A flurry of interviews into the case occurred today and the aides are busy filing paperwork.  A subpoena was signed and delivered to the Temple of the Abyss to supply a human named "Flynn"  accompanied by a brief description in case there was any confusion.  A representative of the Temple promised to give it 'all due consideration.'  It is currently unclear how much consideration was due.

Derik Ranloss and Chandra were engaged in small talk, the vrock while in vicinity, was not engaged in the dialogue nor immediatelly next to Chandra. Chandra brought up a job opportunity with a payment of ten (10) platinum cogs. The job was as described to retrieve the demonologist named Flynn, for he had a debt to "the temple". Though it was not specified at this moment, Derik had suspicions from the start that it may have meant "The Temple of Abyss". A debt they had refused to pay. Derik had inquired what if he could get them to pay the debt. To which Chandra had been according to him sure of Flynn declining to do. Two other noteworthy things were done, one was a wand given to Derik by Chandra. The wand should only be used incase Flynn were to die during the events, Derik speculated it may have been soul trapping tool - it was not used, and afterwards returned to Chandra. The second was mention of others also looking for Flynn.

Derik asked help of his friends, Belle & James Cantor to this. What they were given to go by is the suspected location of his hideout, and a location of portal to near there. A shelter on a nearby beach, while the portal took them to nearby forest. - Plane of which is yet unknown, and likely irrelevant. It did not long for them to find heavy tracks only a couple hours old. Which lead them to the previously mentioned "others" that were also looking for Flynn. In this case, Baatezu were also involved in finding this demonologist, Flynn. A couple skirmishes occurred, after dialogue had failed, between the two groups, out of which Derik, Belle and James came on top. Of course, the question arises, why are the Baatezu after him?

It would seem the demonologist, Flynn had discovered a way to undo demonic pacts. A power the Baatezu would have been keen to exploit to their advantage in the Blood War. However their efforts were now foiled. Flynn had barricaded himself into his shelter with a couple of succubus and yet unknown demons. He had opened a portal and argued for letting them leave, and he would agree to leave with the trio. The demons were allowed to leave, though it was noted by Derik that they appeared frightened? After which Flynn surrendered willingly. However not without begging to be killed instead of being brought back to the Temple of the Abyss. At this stage it was clear to Derik they worked for the Temple of the Abyss, though may have neglected to forward this information to his friends. The notion of the wand and its capabilities got Flynn to leave willingly, as death had lost its viability as an option.

Upon reaching Sigil, Derik exchanged Flynn to the promised reward of ten (10) platinum cogs. Two things happened immediatelly after this, Sharon Raynsford of the Indeps got within viewing distance, and Chandra motioned the Vrock "Barty?" after which the Vrock broke Demonologist Flynns jaw. Based on witness testimonies so far, there was no indication of remorse, shock or surprise from Chandra's behalf, and it stands for reason to assume they have had to deliberate orders beforehand to understand what verboseless hand gesture meant. After being questioned the reason for the sudden attack, the reason was given that it would prevent him from casting spells. Tactically sound reasoning to subdue a spellcaster. However a gag would have done just as well, something Chandra had shrugged off with, and I quote witness testimony "Why ruin a perfectly good handkerchief?" which displays an utter lack of remorse, and probable pre-meditation of their actions. Chandra after this ordered the vrock "Barty?" to take the now kidnapped Flynn into the Temples infirmary.

Besides arguing, the main events end here. However Derik overheard a discussion between Chandra and Sharon later in the Chirpers, by tone it was a heated one. At this time Chandra had claimed, according to Derik eavesdropping it, that Chandra had said the Vrock had acted on its own volition and was simply "Overzealous". While not entirely impossible for tanar'ri and their ilk, it would seem implausible when combined with the previous opinion of gags, and lack of seeming surprise to the actions of the Vrock. Such wordless gestures also must have had a pre-meditated meaning.

At this stage, both Flynn - held by the Temple of the Abyss, Chandra, and her vrock are wanted for questioning. A word has been sent to the Temple of Abyss. Were they fail to answer appropriately, a suggested course of action is a legal warrant and a search warrant to the Temple of Abyss. If they wish to pursue a debt collection, they will have to go through legal methods at it.

((Going to bump this because I'm back and available now that Thanksgiving is Thanksover.))

At the last possible hour allowed, the Harmonium received an answer from the Temple of the Abyss.  A formal letter declining releasing "The Human Slave known as Flynn" and calling him their property.  Also uncharacteristically they've asked that all further requests go through their 'legal representative.'   Details and an address are included, and as far as anyone can tell this guy is an honest to goodness Guvner (maybe sans 'honest').  Included with the first letter is a second from the lawyer discussing legal matters, like a 'verbal contract' with Flynn and some charges the Temple will be willing to concede to to make this whole 'mess go away.'

Against the Vrock known as Bartholomew - Dangerous Behavior in Public, Disturbing the Peace (both to be fined and paid)
Against Chandra - Disturbing the Peace (to be fined and paid)
