A prefatory

Ortho, the jammer harbour.

The seasoned veteran watched the troops load the three decked freighter. Mobile ballistas were rolled up a broad ramp thoundering resoundedly as the metal embossments on the wheels hit the massive wood on the ramp. A pair struggled with pulling the ropes higher up on the long ramp while another pair pushed it from below. Crates was hauled aboard the deck from crane structures errected on platforms between the many rows of dockings and piers. He heard the marching troops apprach from a lower section beneath his vantage point marching three by three in perfect order. Halberds over their right shoulder all holding the end haft in their rigth palm with their left pressing the long shaft to theri shoulder. Steady without the slightest sign of waddle or swaying rigidly pointed skywards in their sycronised fast steps. As they reached the ramp the front men accelerated to keep the speed of the whole train unbroken despite the slanting they faced themselves.

His men and women. The 253rd Reargaurd Battalion. Once again he had to keep them safe and see them return while the mission was completed. All soldiers know that everyone will not return and a rearguard knew the truth of that even more profoundly. It was a inglorious station, when the victory seemed lost they had to minimise the losses and buy enough time for the main bulk of the army to retreat. He did not care for any fancy decorations nor appointments, keeping others safe that's the one thing that mattered most to him. He opened the weatherworn locket in his scarred hand revealing a younger dark haired lady in her twenties. Looking at it with affection for a few seconds before closing it and tucking it away aneath his breastplate. Behind him a tall dark armoured man approached with his helmet carried in his left arm, slapping his heels together and saluted the hoary senior officer. "Mover One Christos. Measure Three Dmytrev reports the loading preceeds according to schedule." He remained standing in salute. The two had seved together for decades but he would never disrespect his commander by forego the formalites even though he knew the response that would follow. " At easie Measure." With that Dmytrev stepped to the side of his commander. "So top brass is finally pulling out of Bysheek. Been a few years I've heard. " The senior officer acknowleded with a nod as he watched the final column board the ship the banner of the 253rd vanishing in the cargo hold and bow visor being winched down.

At the same time in Sigil, Harmonium Barracks.

Sitting by her desk Mover II Siobhan O'Reily reads the following letter from Ortho:
wrote:High Command has reached the final decision to withdraw from the Twin Horns of Jacaal on the prime Bysheek. The siege has been exeedingly costly while lifted several times only to be renewed again. The Fortresses is to be abandoned, the equipment and troops relocated to Ortho. Requesting a specialized corps to assist Battalion 253. Rendezvous with Mover I Christos awaiting them on the prime Jammer station in Ortho for final briefing.

High Command seal
Shortly afterwards she was checking lists with availble personel and summon those she considered suitable.

Hograth hears from this operation by chance, the Halforc Measure inspecting arriving troops from Arcadia and Ortho.

There is the usual security briefing followed by a motivational speech- something he has done countless times before. But Hograth is also someone who listens- and when he hears two veterans talking after the ceremony he decides to find out what is going on and to offer his aid.

He makes his way to mover O'Reily's office, knocking before entering, saluting to greet her.

"I heard you are looking for volunteers, Ma'am."

The silvery white haired lady in her mid fifthies saluted the tall half-orc in return remaining seated. Her grey eyes peered at him with a piercing gaze.

"Measure Hograth. Glad to see you are still willing to get your hands into the dirt despite your rank. A true trooper. We're getting a request to reinforce a rescue fleet bound for Bysheek. It is being assembled back on Ortho. We are to meet up with Mover One Christos for the briefing. We would serve them best with a smaller versatile group and that is what I intend to put together."

((Come on guys join ye up!))

//Depending on when the events will take place, I'd either join up or offer to play EM assistant to get to grips with the client if you wouldn't mind. :) Will wait for a plothook to be involved in if IC is the case.

The halforc smiles a broad but genuine smile, his armour still blackened from that firebombing long ago, only on a few places the lobster red can still be seen. His voice is a firm and deep as he answers, and perhaps it is the orc in him speaking this time.

"It will be good to serve in the field again, Ma'am. Leadership and paperwork have their place, are important but I shall not forget hw it feels in the mud, in the heat of battle.

I am glad to have the opportunity to participate in this mission.

What will be the team's purpose. Ma'am?"

((Want to give this a good mix of forum and ingame RP. Still time to get abord!))

"My though exactly Measure. Had hope to seen a few more sharing our sentiment though."

She corrected the framed painted picture on her desk to stand at exactly 90 degrees counting from the corner.

"I have not been briefed on all the details yet. But we are to evacuate a defence complex stationed at the lesser prime of Bysheek. The Twins of Jacaal. Starting as a diplomatic outpost it has grown into a fortress city due to the constant sieges. It no longer serves the cause of order. It simply bleeds of us recources and men. I agree with the command it is time we got our boys out of there."

She curled a gentle smile of her own her worrylines and crow's feet becoming a little more visible as she did.

"We should be back soon enough, but you should say goodbye to your loved ones before we go if you have any and resupply if need be. Meet me by dock 206b in six hours."

Notary Ta'Kan is known to have been trained by the Githzerais, wich is quite unusual for a human, she never pretended to be a Zerth however. Yet, she has managed to mix her teaching with the principles of the harmonium, having proven to be extremely loyal and dedicated to the Faction, following every rule point to the letter and possessing a strong faith in the cause of harmony, not hesitating to remind them to her superior in private without ever questioning their orders.

Belonging to the internal affairs department which acts like a military police for the harmonium, she has received a special "propaganda and communication" training in Arcadia. Shana Ta'Kan is known to be very spartan and austere, she doesn't drink, play games or do anything that would shift her away from her focus, trying to be an example as much as humanly possible. For all the disciplinary cases she had to manage, she always treated firmly but not without kindness. Like many members of the faction she's a follower of St. Cuthbertt.
