The Case Of Mir And The Demonbinders
Posted: Sat Oct 16, 2010 12:00 am
My report is conclusive on this matter and I shall deliver the report as I witnessed events:
Participants involved included Mir, Neri, Dani, Bergimon, Mashanie, Ymerion, Maelfina and myself.
Mir had tracked down a group of Demonbinders attempting to kidnap her illegally into their own plane, they apparently hailed from Toril.
We had located them in an abbandoned tavern, the Caged Flagon. It appeared to be unused for some time and was laced to the teeth in defencive traps.
Initally, Ymerion attempted to open the door with force, by my permission, but was unable to. Maelfina later used a shapeshifting technique to shatter the door to the floor but was electrified by a trap on the other side.
After some healing I sent Maelfina to Muriels Tavern to recover. The remaining party entered and encountered a female Demonbinder, a Human. She attempted to bargain with us for Mir in exchange for Ten Roguestones each. I flatly refused and cautioned the others that accepting the offer would be unlawful bribery and cooperation with an unwilling abduction.
The others already saw the reason, and it wasnt long before we attempted to apprihend the criminal. However, she used a spell to turn corporeal and then vanished entirley. But not before casting a powerful turn undead spell that influenced Bergimon and the vampiric consorts he had earlier summoned to assist us. The Vampires fled, Bergimon, did not.
Moments later, three demons appeared, one of which captured Mir, the other two we dispatched with ease.
In my frustration I admit dealing property damage to the next door, I broke it down with force and narrowly avoided being skewered by a poisonous spike.
We then approached a series of stairways, one leading up the other leading down. By Mashanie's judgement we chose to go downstairs.
I ordered Dani to use her entropic arts to blast the door, and Neri to use her fire magic to illuminate the lower corridoor while clearing out any interlopers. The door was destroyed but there was nothing on the other side, initially.
However, when we passed through, we encountered a fallen deva by the name of Shadowdark. A collar had been attached to her to restrain her. She and a large number of Succubus and Hezoru all appeared to be enslaved.
This Shadowdark had been holding Mir prisoner in rather less clothing than she began with. They tried to enthrall her, but Shadowdark told me that she would be given a choice.
The choice was to willingly obay her or not.
After flatly refusing, the Deva unleashed a magical device that dispelled our magical effects. Following this, her minions attacked and we were quickly overpowered.
Despite this initial victory, she held us before her and made a threat and a promise to Mir, that if she did not return to her cage she would cause us grevious harm. She had done particular damage to Dani, something that nearly drove me to act on reckless impulse.
However, Dani was consious enough to cast a spell upon Shadowdark. At the advise of Mir, Shadowdark's collar was binding her to the will of her masters. Dani's attack withered the collar, but Shadowdark attempted to kill Dani. I intercepted the blow and took a feirce hook to the chest. I have recovered by Shadowdark's hand or rather the now nameless Deva who was free'd after a struggle between herself, Ymerion and the others.
Each of them faught admirably against these lying cads. After removing the collar, the Deva abbandoned her name and used her powers to banish most of the demons save one Terrified Succubus.
Bergimon was also moderatley influenced by this aswell. Though not quite as badly. After she had been free'd from their grasp, she was ordered to heal me and Dani which the Deva did so. Then, two of the Demonbinders arrived.
One was a human male with a spined hairstyle. He was rather sharply dispatched by a combination of attacks left upon him in one swift motion. The other, was the same woman we met before. After Mir pinned her to the ground and disoriented her with a blow to the skull, I protested that she be given the rite to a trial. Despite my protest, I justify Mir's next action to be one of self defence. As Mir herself said: She has entered her final prison now.
I have sent the Deva to deliver a full report to you, in addition, Mir provided me with one of the rogue stones.
The deva claims her slavers were from Toril, of which there were four in total. Two yet remain yet she claims they will not return.
I do not lightly believe this, and so I believe these roguestones might provide us with clues as to who sent them here in the first place.
I leave the stone in the possession of Investigator Casandra, whom I believe is more than capable of investigating this kind of situation.
I will also protest that Mir shall not be put on trial for her actions. As she slew the woman in self-defence, despite having the executioners choice at the end of the events.
Had it been other circumstances I might have interjected. But in this instance, I believe justice was served as it should be.
...With that said, I conclude my report on this matter, and close this case. Should Investigator Casandra wish to reopen it, I will file all available information and resorces to her.
