Zoel stood victorious over the enemy. Hextors Justice was the only Justice, the justice of battle, of blood, of victory.
Lined across the once formidable celestial fortress were the severed and split skulls impaled on their own pikes arraying from the walls of their own fortress. She grinned pleased at the blood drooling down the walls, staining their once divine beauty.
Yes, she mused, this will be the first of many messages I send. The first of many fears to come, planes beyond home.
She Ignited the gunpowder barrels and walked away from the fortress as the denizens she had neglected to free still trapped inside screamed in horror and terror as explosions of molten heat burned the fortress down from its foundations.
A message indeed, a message indeed.
The flame trailed back out the blasted front gate and followed after her slow footsteps blazing onto the grass, outlined in blood, the symbol of the scourge of battle.
Outside, several peasants and commoners gathered in horror and shock as the black night lit with the blaze of blood and flame.
She looked at those below with a pleased gaze, she did not need to speak words, her actions had told them all they needed to know.
Kneel.
And so one by one the peasants eyes filled with horror as the red eyed monster glared down upon them watching slowly. The blade at her hip growled hungrily for more blood, but she knew it was unnecessary. They had been given a clear warning, she was a conqueror, not a destroyer.
"Justice has no boundries that it will not cross... you will remember this the next time you try to defy it."
She walked to one of the trembling peasant girls.
"Do you fear Justice?" She asked the woman as her lip shuddered.
"Y-y-yes, yes my l-lady!"
"RISE!" Zoel shouted angrily. The others watched in fear as the woman looked at her wide eyed and shakily began to stand.
"Why do you fear Justice?" She asked with a soothing voice. The woman stood shaken as her eyes started to water.
"I...I..." she couldnt even speak properly, the pathetic wretch had all the dignity ripped out of her at the sight of her oh-so-holy lords fortress falling.
The man was due a sentance anyway, he had escaped Sigil to be condemned to the executioners hand. His prime was to be his sanctuary, but here the only rule that mattered was the rule of supression. A rebel had to be taught a harsh lesson, today she would make sure these creatures knew it well.
She gripped the woman by the jaw with a powerful grip she screamed but her jaw was forced shut as she shuddered and flailed. Zoel elivated her off the ground several feet as she reached for her Kyton Chain Flail. A gift from mighty Hextors finest forgemasters.
"If you are innocent, you have nothing to fear..." She said to the others with a humored tone. "But if you fear justice, then it is clear you are guilty of a crime!"
She threw the woman sharply to the floor as the battered woman coughed. Her foot then slammed the womans face into the muddy floor brutally as her nose cracked. She yelled and coughed, whimpering as she curled up into a ball, blood drooling from her face as Zoel ruthlessly gripped her hair and yanked her screaming to her knees.
"Fear justice, and you are guilty of betraying justice!" She shouted to the other peasants. All of which were poorly armed and trained, unlikley to defend themselves aswell as their liege lord had with his petty poorly trained vanguard. She was insulted such a fight occured, it was hardly even worth her time.
"What are you guilty of girl?" She glared at the woman with a deep hatred. Such a weak, mewling creature deserved to be made an example of and she knew exactly how to teach her.
"I...I have done nothing wrong!" She protested desperatley, her fear growing her lips quivering as she whimpered in agony having her hair pulled.
"Lies!" Zoel replied, thrusting her down onto the floor, the girl sobbed as she lifted her chain. "Confess your sins!"
The lash struck once, twice, thrice, as the woman yelled in screaming agony, crying with pain as she wriggled and squirmed. "Confess!" Zoel shouted with an intense ferocity, looking at the others for any that dared help her.
None did.
She watched the girl struggle as blood splattered the floor. She flailed and screamed and cried untill she finally broke under the merciless strain of the Mercykillers flail.
"I confess!" She cried "I....I am guilty please... s-show mercy."
Satisfied with the answer, her lips curved upward as she kicked the girl in the stomach.
"This woman confesses to sin!" She looked at the others. "Her sins can only be redeemed through Justice... she has failed all of you. She, like your Lord must be made an example of, do you not all agree?"
She looked at the broken and darkened hearts of the people. She spoke with a mustering tone as the woman struggled under her boot. "She will be flogged to death, by the hands of this village. Each of you will take a turn striking her, the one that brings the death blow shall be given the keep ruins as pennance for your crimes, and right to rule once more."
Hesitant expressions looked around as the womans eyes flared wide. She trembled and begged desperatley for her life but to no avail, one by one everyone began to mob and surround her. Then, Zoel chuckled and sat back, watching the brutality displayed by the newly converted peasants.
Justice, was a beautiful poetry, the strong survived, the weak, were crushed under its heel.
This, was Justice.
