"In here, you should belong to a cell"

The though laid idly in her mind, surfacing from time to time like an obvious truth. That was what anyone else around her thought as well, probably, she knew it. She just couldn't put her finger on how she felt about it. Bad? No, that couldn't be... she was used to worst things than scorn or judgment, afterall. So what was it? Why was she finding herself worrying about feelings at all?
She was oath-bound now, she needed to focus on that and that only.
Oath-bound... Right. Why did she do that, again? She found herself asking this question as well, every time she woke up and before passing out at night. Good question. Of course she had an answer as well, she just didn't like it.

"Just follow the orders and you'll be fine. You're good at that.
Follow the orders, and if you're lucky, at some point you might even die while doing so."

The assignment Namer Kyum had been appointed with proved to be more annoying than expected. Cycles after her Oath ceremony, the Cambion was still never seen in the barracks, her bed empty ever since, giving the impression she didn't understand she had to be there, or that she was just ignoring that part on purpose until someone gave her a clear order.
Nonetheless, she did show up every morning when training was due, but for the entire time, she shadowed Daniss almost as if her main duty was to follow the Namer around rather than training herself, a sign she probably misunderstood Factor Andor's words, to some extent.
At least she was quiet. A bit creepy, in her habit of standing perfectly still, or the way her fully red eyes stared, apparently without focus given the lack of any human feature in them.
She seemed rather polite as well, or at least she tried her best to be, despite her generally rough attitude. Didn't help she just seemed to disappear as soon as it was clear they were "free to go", making the entire "evaluation" thing a bit exasperating...

The Tiefling being shadowed seemed to have something of a routine. She rose from her bunk in the Prison at her designated time every morning, ate a light breakfast, then went on to morning drills which she expected the Cambion to do with her: laps around the training grounds for half an hour, taking 100 shots at archery practice, doing various mixed-exercises for another half-hour, and lastly sparring practice.

Although Daniss took the lead, she didn't give orders. It would appear that she simply expected her example to followed and wasn't strict about much as long as there was some effort given to do so. But when it came to sparring practice, Daniss specifically chose the new namer as her partner each day and did not go easy on her regardless of her capabilities. Either she was up to the task at hand, or Daniss intended to give her as many bruises as necessary to get her there.

Afterwards Daniss went about explaining the duties that were expected of a new namer and explained what was expected of her on and off duty. She also advised her that keeping an eye out for illicit activity while off-duty was a good way to get noticed by higher ups looking for capable people to promote.

In contrast to the time spent on-duty, though, Daniss was quite happy to disappear the moment she too was free to go. Where she went off to was any berk's guess, but she was much harder to shadow than she was inside the Prison.

After few days the routine became clear to the Cambion, which easily adjusted to it without questions. For the first week, she would just wait for Daniss in the training grounds. She was perplexed at the amount of time the tiefling spent running in circles, but still did it without complaining.... archery, instead, was another thing. It was clear she had never used a bow in her entire life, but by tries and imitation she still managed to do something out of that, proving to have quite the aim nonetheless.
Melee combat at least seemed to be something she was already versed in, as long as she was allowed to wield light weapons... too bad the Cambion didn't seem to be accustomed with the concept of "sparring": while she didn't mind getting the occasional blow she always seemed rather unwilling to fight back, as if somehow she wasn't allowed to, which made difficult to prove her current level.

Attempts to give Daniss her full attention while she went about explaining all the duties and stuff were commendable as well. She stood quietly and still, offering nods from time to time and overall giving the impression she wasn't really listening due to her vacant red stare. Her occasional questions, though, were pertinent enough to prove she was not only following but also doing her best to understand.

After a bit more than a week, the Cambion suddenly started to show up in the barracks as well as requested by her superior, taking finally possession of her designated bunk and spending her nights there. She didn't seem extremely happy to comply, and she was never actually seen sleeping there, should anyone take notice. That didn't seem to stop her from performing the daily training, anyway: if she ever rested, surely wasn't in the prisons or when someone was looking.
