Charae kept a calm and collected composure as she listen to the Namer. The dark elf's eyebrow twitched slightly when Kali claimed she was not under her command. Charae was a Factor, the equivalent of a general officer in the Mercykiller ranks. She was almost shocked that the Namer had such gall. Though perhaps that passion could be tempered in the right direction. When Kali was finished, Charae nodded at Justice Borton, then looked at the Namer.

"Are you finished then? First, I've already assigned someone to look into who is behind the bombings, and I've the utmost confidence they'll handle it. Justice Kierisen is qualified for the task and committed despite your shallow and brief observations of her. I would have overlooked your behavior if you had simply admitted you spoke out of line - and cut you some slack - but since you are so adamant on hanging yourself, I'll be annotating your personal record and informing your supervisor to issue you a brush and a bucket for the next two months while you are on shift, on top of your regular duties. If you so choose, you may assist the investigation on the bombing on your free time as well, so long as you pay heed and do not interfere with Justice Kierisen's investigation.

By your own admission, you have been a Namer for a whole three weeks and are not nearly qualified to complete tasks without supervision. You have yet proved your commitment to the Red Death. I would advise you to reconsider your treatment of your superiors if you ever wish to gain the respect of your fellow factioneers. Your behavior from the short time I have spoken to you proves you seek nothing more than to sow discord in our ranks. We are a militant sect and that means we have standards, ones you will either uphold or I will make life very miserable for you.

Now either start acting like a Mercykiller and keep that attitude in check or I'll have Justice Borton here escort you to the dungeon. If we are clear on that note, you are dismissed."

*Her face contorted in disgust with every word that Charae utters, and as the Factor continued, Kali looked as she just inadvertently somersaulted into a heap of unusually pungent dung. When she spoke again, every word dripped with the bitter ichor of disdain.*

"You are so blinded by rank, procedure, and protocol that you fail to see the big-picture. Simply put: if you weren't hung up on hierarchy, you'd see that a major mistake has been committed by an easily distracted, and likely unqualified officer." *She turned her body halfway to the door.*

"I shall accept your punishment - not out of deference to you but out of deference to the faction. When my two month penance has been served scrubbing the dungeons, I shall request transfer to the supervision of another Factor - preferably one that is less rigid in their thinking and more apt to action."

*With that, she took another long look at Charae's office, and bit her lip as if restraining herself from blurting out a litany of curses. Finally, she walked off with loud, ominous footsteps.*

The dark elf looked at Justice Borton. "All shapes and sizes these days."

Borton nodded. "All shapes and sizes."

Several hours after Charae issues her directive to Kali, an official Harmonium courier arrives at her office with a missive, appropriately marked and signed. It reads:
wrote:Factors,

Reports of the Great Bazaar disturbance and violence have finally been brought to my attention after what I understand was a gross dereliction of protocol on the Mercykiller's part. I'm afraid that I need to remind you again that you are not law enforcers or peace keepers. In the case of any incident you witness, you are authorized by the clear terms of the Triad to provide security and nothing more. All violence and other infractions are to be immediately reported to the nearest Harmonium officer.

Finally, I understand that several Mercykillers were assaulted in the aforementioned chaos. Therefor, I'm taking this opportunity to remind you all that Mercykillers are not to engage in investigation the assault. That is the explicit purview of the Harmonium, regardless of any of your personal feelings. If I learn that anyone under your command has been assigned to an investigation, or engages in one on their personal impetus, this matter will no longer discreetly remain between Harmonium and Mercykillers.

To put it quite bluntly, Factors, remain in your prison and do your job. We will do ours.

Peace and Harmony,
Zenodarakaro

A reply follows.
wrote: Mover III Zenodarakaro,

Thank you for your swift response regarding this manner. It is evident through our couriers that you were notified of the incident within the Bazaar within hours of it happening by Justice Kierisen. My subordinates acted within the bounds of their authority within the Triad and will continue to do so. They did not attempt to pass judgement on anyone without due process, so I fail to see the issue in their actions.

I am well aware of the Harmonium's role within the Triad. Any information the Mercykillers uncover about the identities of the terrorists will be forwarded to the Harmonium so that your faction may take appropriate action. If you have no other concerns, I look forward to assisting the Harmonium in bringing these criminals to Justice. In the future, I would suggest the Harmonium be more diligent within the Bazaar during this stage of heightened alert so that they stay better informed of what is happening within their area of operation.

Another report is filed by Namer Kali Snyderman.

Location: Khazeet's Bar
Time: 2.5 hours before antipeak
Mercykillers affected: Kali Snyderman, Mercykiller Guard, Mercykiller Kierisen
Other affected: Half-Dragon, White haired (elf?) named Nero, pink-haired human named Ivana
Events Transpired:

A shrapnel bomb was lobbed into the bar, incapacitating several people, myself included, for a period of no less than 30 seconds. When I arose, I saw Mercykiller Kierisen as well as the Half Dragon draw weapons and walk to the far end of the bar to investigate while Nero helped heal Ivana's wounds. No signs of the attackers, though Mercykiller Kierisen suggested Anarchists.

Mercykiller Kierisen and Nero then engaged in extensive bickering, and Nero was accused of being an Anarchist sympathizer (but wasn't arrested). I went off to warn Harmonium officers who informed me that this has happened a few times before. They seemed nervous and weren't able to provide me with any information.

Mercykiller Kierisen confronted me, then accused me of disrespecting her when I suggested that I hadn't seen anyone except ex lovers bicker like she and Nero were. I will make a note of keeping any potentially negative observation about her (no matter how accurate) to myself in the future rather than verbalizing it in the bazaar. I suspect her ego was bruised.

Of Note:* A few moments prior to the incident, a worker in white clothes with salt-and-pepper black hair approached us to speak of some kind of strike happening. He wished to hire mercenaries to 'stand' while the workers spoke to their boss. Apparently the boss was working under contract with the Harmonium and the strike was breaking the contract. I offered him some jink and told him to stay out of trouble. This individual is a potential suspect. I will look into the matter and see if I can find any more clues.

Follow up: I shall look into the matter of the strike, as well as the matter of this Nero character being involved with the Anarchists.

Factor Charae read both reports and filed them away. Upon seeing Kali's report, she shook her head and picked up a quill and paper.

*Kali reports to Charae's office shortly. From the door she waves and nods in greeting, her black hair bobbing gently up and down like blades of wild grass in the wind. An excited glimmer highlights her dark eyes.*

Yes, hello.

You called?

The dark elf woman sat at her desk, reading reports on the latest attack on the bazaar. A man dressed in red-and-black full plate stood beside her, long greasy black hair framing his face.

Charae looked up from the reports as Namer Kali walked in. "Ah, there you are. Namer Kali. How long have you been in the Red Death?"
