Around dawn, a halfling-sized, armored tiefling woman met with a low-ranking Mercykiller on the streets, reportedly asking about how she might join the Mercykillers. Dubious about her ability to serve, the Mercykiller gathered information about in the conversation instead, promising to bring it back to his superiors. Apparently, her background involves her being from a Prime called Golarion, worshiping some sort of sun goddess, and - to the young Mercykiller's chagrin - being a paladin.

While the man suggested the tiefling, Karana Thistlestep, might be better served joining another faction, she was very persistent, expressing a desire to mete out justice and "rehabilitate those that can yet be saved." The Mercykiller agreed to let her interest be known and went on his way.

((The Mercykiller is a nameless NPC. Thistlestep is not a well known figure, but has been known to occasionally proselytize to supposedly lost souls about redemption, mercy, and second chances. While all records suggest she has been cooperative with the law, her merciful nature may be found objectionable by some (many) Mercykillers.

I'd love to be contacted about this in-game, but I can also discuss this on the forums; my in-game Player ID is Inlaa.))

The application reached Charae's office. The dark elf reviewed over it, then picked up a paper and quill.

She sent the following response:
wrote: Dear Karana Thistlestep,

I have reviewed your application for joining the Mercykillers. We are a faction that holds Justice above everything else and joining our ranks is never a minor affair. There are a number of paladins within our order, so I doubt that your credentials there will pose a problem.

I offer you two ways to enlist. There are recruitment days once a week which goes over what it is to be the Mercykiller and discussion of our eight tenets of duty. Once you are finished, you are given the choice to swear in on the tenets at the end of the day. You may also find me if you wish a more personal interview and we can discuss the tenets in length, my schedule permitting.

Please feel free to contact me whenever you decide. Once you join the Mercykillers, you never stop being one.

Regards,
Justicar Charae
