A Hunt

Back in his small office deep inside the prison Julius Ahestes locks the door, preparing a new folder. There is no number on it, no name.

Looking down on it Julius realizes he is alone. He cannot involve those few he trust this time, too great is the danger, too dishonourable what he knows must be done.

For some time now he has looked to the upper planes for advice, for guidance but recent events planted doubts into his hearts.
All he found up there were empty phrases and fearful hearts. So it is up to him now to act, to do something. He is alone.

This thought returns and the certainty makes him smile- not a friendly, polite smile but more a wolfish snarl. He has nothing to lose and perhaps the first time in his life he really feels free.

Tucking the folder under his arm he makes his way to the archive, his step sure, his posture confident, no longer hiding the anger inside him, no longer supressing his agressive sides.

His hunt has begun

Julius finds the following letter on his desk.

Factoum Ahestes

After reviewing the evidence you have submitted I have issued an arrest warrant for Notary 2 Thagrk.  He will be detained upon arriving for patrol tomorrow morning and held at the barracks.  I have requested the Harmonium assist you in your inquires

After reading the letter Julius allows himself a pleased smile.

He takes a quill and strokes a name from his list- then follows the lines connectig this name to others.

Who will be next? he thinks. Who will get nervous?

Taking a fresh sheet of paper he writes an answer.

My Lady,

I thank you for your quick response and cooperation.

Of course I will keep you informed about my investigations and I look forward to work with you again.

Giving the letter to a namer for quick delivery he then gets a teapot, a skin of fresh water and some black tea.

Then he heads out, making his way to the Tower a smile on his lips.

A few days later Julius looks through his folders and notes again, the informations gained from the notary filling several files.

First a notary, then a Judge. Too bad the latter proved to be uncooperative... and made the mistake to threaten someone very dear to me. Now the justicar... but that will be difficult.

He has to be careful, has to find a way to catch this one unaware, in a position where the 7th tenent will not protect the corrupt Mercykiller.

But he has an idea- now he only needs to find something he can use.
