Passive Resistance

David mills about the dark shack in the Hive. It is a deep, desperate area with little hope... full of squalor and destitution. His small shack, the only home he'd known for years, had become a makeshift soup kitchen.
David spends many hours each day collecting the donations of the citizens of the city and the rest of the time he spends handing them out in the Hive. Now he understands that money corrupts so all coin is converted into supplies, food, clothing, medicines... whatever he can purchase from the black marketers, and handed out to those who approach his hovel.
He openly wears a pin... an Anarchist pin... but he only carries a simple club, used to scatter vermin that encroach his home.
He was known as an honest man and a gentle man... a pacifist. Many of the Revolution looked down upon him. He didn't have the resolve to fight. Didn't have the stones to wage war... but he didn't care. He didn't belong to a cell and openly opposed those who shed blood in the name of an ideal... and that's all the Revolution was to him... an Ideal.
His mantra was simply "Question Authority... think for yourself". Those with power always held back the truth, only told the masses what they needed to hear... to keep them complacent. He believed that the truth must be learned by all... shared by all. One cannot be free unless everyone knows the truth. The people will be oppressed so long as the truth is kept from them by the oppressors.
While he had few friends in the Revolution, few friends in the city and few friends in the factions... he had the people who came to him for help every night. He would hand out food until it was gone... and only then would he eat. If none remained... he would go hungry that night as well. If one person left cold, without a blanket to warm them, his would be given and it would be him who shivered in the night.
David was a kind man, not the sort of Revolutionary you'd expect... but one who believed in the need for freedom just the same. Perhaps some day he might change a few minds because the only way to deal with an unfree society is to become so absolutely free that your very existance is an act of rebellion
