The sensation of sipping drinks, nibbling treats, and being with friends. Patting a temporary unicorn. Everyone presenting gifts to the lord and lady of the feast, one by one. Dancing with a loved one.

And then, when the party was done, every sat down to hear the tale of the Pale Prince from the mouth of the Prince of Hearts.

"The Prince's tale starts, thousands of years in the past, when he was known as the Sun Prince. The child of Titania and Oberon.

This was in a time when the war between the Seelie and Unseelie was new. The prince, fighting for the Seelie, earned a great many victories. That is, until he met his match upon the battle field - Vanim, a warrior and noble of the winter court.

The two would be locked in battle for a thousand years, neither side winning, and in such they started to find affection for one another - something our fey guests know to be a taboo, though less one now then it was back then.

Searching for a means to escape together the two went to the see the Raven Queen - a powerful fey necromancer who has long used ravens to steal the souls of the dead. In exchange for their divine essence, she would give them both mortal bodies in the mortal world.

However, a mortal man desiring the winter beauty for himself also struck a deal with the Queen. He would give her a great many souls if she would but send him instead of the prince. The Raven Queen accepted, and the following day placed Vanim and the mortal man together upon a prime.

When the prince came to join his love, the Queen showed him visions of her leaving him behind for this mortal man.

His heart turned to ice at this act of betrayal and his hatred for mortals of the world grew. With his new found rage and spite he killed the lord of the frost fortress and ascended. He swore he would bring about an ice age to end all mortal life across the multiverse.

However after his ascension he remained within his fortress for nearly ten thousand years, leaving only when ordered. . at least until recently."

The brightly lit glade, and chit-chat with friends fades away as the memory comes to an end.
