On a side note, I think we're about to the point where, unless the pictures are aimed towards something severely under-represented in the gallery, people probably need to be submitting one or two they're interested in using for their characters rather than "here's 80 pictures of blonde female halflings I found this morning". Sure it's nice to have options, but when it becomes a three-hour chore to sort through all the pictures of halflings to find the one that fits best, things have gotten a bit out of hand.

I'm actually kind of at the point that Cere mentioned, to be honest. It's been a thought for a while. Like... do we really need 200 images no one is going to use? I think a variety is good, but it's quite pointless downloading all these extra portraits no one will ever touch. Just a thought, but with the gallery as full as it is now. . . perhaps posts should be limited to filling requests and submission of pictures you'll actually use?

I wouldn't quite go that far Nimi. The portrait files are ridiculously small, generally less than 50kb, and when you throw in the compression that occurs during the staging process you're only really downloading around 3MB of data for the 2016 files (hah, coincidence!) already in our portrats HAK, and the fact that it's not being updated constantly means it's not really bogging anyone down.

I just think the days of a single person dropping 50 or 60 portraits at one fell swoop should be over, and yes, new ones should be more along the lines of "I think this WILL be used" than "someone might use this someday maybe". On the other hand, when new races and classes roll out, people may want to do a little hunting just so there's something that reflects the new character.

hardest part is to find pictures for Celestials matching their canonical skin colors, like green-ish or blue or silvery white. 3.5 ed Erinyes also have this green-ish gray skin tone in official art. Plenty of pictures for angels everywhere, but they're all very human-looking.

Not sure if this is the right forum but I'm having great difficulty browsing the selections on the photobucket site. It often takes 5+ minutes to load a selection of images despite having no such problems on my own photobucket.

I'm wondering if there's some conflict between my Ad Blocker and this new revamped vitriolic advertising on the Character Portrait selection which completely seems to bypass it?

Well I am getting some obnoxious ads, but everything seems to be loading at normal speeds for me (located in St. Louis, MO, US). One thing I don't know, however, is where exactly files are located, and whether they're all centralized in the US or if there's different storage sites depending upon where one signed up from (Agony_Aunt is in Russia, for instance). I'd suggest just waiting a few hours before trying again and seeing if that was just some temporary glitch.
