*Naya tuts seeing Cratten's notice and she murmurs to herself then talks to Kelth later of it in the quiet of their room*

"Men are such...idiots sometimes...tis Vanya I feel for...those tears were real...genuine...her upset tangible..."There will be no winners from this" she had said to me a few days ago...and she is right....is whatever happened worth the life of a man? She had thought Cratten gone for good...so she had turned to the comfort of another...I cannot blame her for that. I've no love lost for either man but I would not see either dead. But in the end...tis their choice. Tis Vanya that will have to live with the heartache of the outcome and what kind of a love and life would that be?

*Naya sighed and held Kelth in her feathery embrace by the fire, thankful for him, for this, for its simplicity...a stark contrast to the drama that would be unfolding for Vanya and she made silent prayer to Pelor for her own good fortune and blessing*

*Mil clenches teeth*

"Harmonium *spits* ten thous'nd men under arms and that g'ves them the right t' create own laws, then bend and break them... alr'ght, fine by me.

May the tin red thugs 'nforce own brands of justice. They h've yet to find out that men and women of Ten Towns stand t'gether, come Hells or high water."

Upon returning from a "mergers and acquisitions" trip, Vanya encounters Milan in the bazaar.

Milan tells Vanya of the impending duel and she feels her world spinning further out of control. The color drains from her face and her knees buckle, threatening to send her crashing to the ground. Milan rushes to hold her to keep her from falling.

She had heard that Cratten was back, but since he was the one who left without any warning and had never sent word of his wellbeing nor of his return, she had assumed that he was just another loved one who left.

She had come to the Cage with Dragon, Yasha, Marielle, Alisa and Yvka when their own plane had imploded. One by one, everyone was gone except for her. First Marielle, then Alisa, and then Yvka had disappeared. Then Yasha had died (or was murdered), breaking Dragon's heart so that he, too had found reason to spend more and more time away.

Then the day came that Vanya had returned to their room to find Cratten was also gone. After so long without any news, she had assumed that he had left her as well.

Now, he has returned and killing Vale seems first and foremost on his mind, since he has still not even tried to contact her.

She must find Cratten and talk sense into him. As she leaves her room the next morning in search of him she wonders aloud; (translated from Druidic) "What fresh hells hath the gods wrought upon me this day?"

*In a room at the Inn Vale sits and looks at pictures of his home aswell as the Handkerchief he got from Vanya.

In the Corner stands all his things packed and ready to go, his armor is mounted on a fitting dummy next to the closet in his room and his weapons rest against the closet door's.

He then puts away his pictures and the handkerchief, and starts to write a few letters. This first being to his Major Domo back in Bremen.*

Dearest Friend.

I write to you regarding some concerning issues that have come to my attention, which will be quite hazardous for my health.

Effective immediatly upon recieving this letter i name you my successor with all gains and responsibilities that follow.

Signed. Lord Vale Reynolt.

*The Second Letter is adressed to Kelth*

Kelth.

If you are recieveing this then i am without a doubt not amongst the living anymore.

There are a few things i would like you to do for me as a last favor to an old friend.
I would like you to give Vanya the letter that follows with the one im sending you,

Also i would ask you to take my armor and weapons from me and Repair them so they can be kept in use of my home's defense.

And lastly i would like you to have the Gem's in my possession as compensation for the inconvinience.

Think of it as an early marriage gift for you and Naya since i wont be around when that time comes.

PS. Tell Vanya im very sorry..

Signed. Your old Friend Vale.

*And then he writes the attached letter*

Vanya my love.

I am truly sorry...I never meant for this to happen and it breaks my heart to write this farewell letter to you.

You were the light amongst the darkness of my existence and everytime i saw you it brightened my day and drove the darkness away.

Whenever you were sad i couldnt help but feel i had let you down in someway..i realize now that ive let you down in the worst possible way my love.

I want you to remember that no matter what you will always be in my heart for ever, Because you are my angel wether you will admit it or not...

I want you to be happy with someone who will be there for you whenever your need is there...God's know i havnt been around enough for you and everytime i returned to find out something bad had happened It broke my heart and made me hate myself for not being there....I hope you can forgive me.

Signed. Vale Reynolt.

PS. I will always love you Vanya..my Angel.

*The letters then gets put in a mail slot at the Inn and adressed to be delivered the day after the Duel.*

It has been one week since Vanya sought Cratten out and finally encountered him in the room that they once shared. Her heart breaks at the sight of him and she knows that there is a part of her that still loves him very deeply.

She has tried to reason with him, tried to dissuade him from this duel and he has refused to hear her pleas. But when she asks him point blank if this duel is about her and his wounded pride, or about something dark, Cratten's answer is succint.

"It's something dark, Vanya. I can no longer control it. Stay out of the way and you won't get hurt."

Now the day of the duel has come and Vanya is afraid. Not for herself, not even for Vale, but for all of Sigil. Perhaps if Cratten is defeated, the darkness that threatens to spread across the Cage can still be turned back.

Vanya is torn between her love for Vale and the love she still feels Cratten - the man she once thought she knew and who might have loved her as well.

In the early morning, Vanya heads out to the grove by the waterfall and prays to the spirits of the land, the water, the air, as well as the fire spirits to be with Vale on this terrible day. Her tears for Cratten and the love they once shared stream down her face and fall into the dust as she kneels before the Spirits.

This evilness must be stopped.

The duel has ended, Cratten Erroc survived through and won the duel. Vale Reynolt and what's left of his corpse was left for his friends to take care of while Cratten left the scene from the crowd that didn't quite appreciate what he had just done.
