"Very impressive. You have the qualifications to earn a higher rank and also the abitions to do so it seems."
The woman leans back, fills out some forms- as in most military organizations there is a always a lot of paperwork to be done.
"Of course you will need some experience in the field first, so I suggest you volunteer to support some of our squads in the streets or some investigation team soon.
No need to play the hero or to get involved in violence if course. Let the team profit from your skills, support them in their task. After all this is one of our strrenghts. The Harmonium excels in teamwork, in every trooper doing her or his best for the whole of the faction.
For now get settled in, store your belonging, get a meal. I assigned you to room 45-C, you are its only occupant right now.
The guard outside will show you to it- you have two hours to see to this business then I expect you back here and I will give you your first assignment.
One last thing... are you able to percieve your surroundings in a way similar to the eyesight most beings have?"

She took the papers and placed them in the bag with the small cat
“I can perceive surroundings and objects, just not like you might be used to. I have a few objects that feel out the area for me, showing me my surroundings and other things. They do not appear in sight as most people see them, more like… echoes and feelings that show me what is required but it is better than nothing. For more specific vision I rely on Mephic… she reached in and scratched the little feline between the ears. “We have attuned ourselves to each other and I am able to share her senses as she is able to share mine.
I will settle in and do what I can for field work. While I’ve little I can do to physically aid a unit, I can certainly prevent disaster by scrying areas they’re about to enter before they do so and supplement the troops by warding them and granting them, as the Planeswalkers say, buffs.”
She then took her leave, got a meal and unpacked, and returned as required.

"Good. Supporting casters are an asset and the Harmonium never lacks heroes who charge in, blade drawn anyway..." She made another note on the papers then dismisses the woman with a small gesture.
The room that is assigned to her is small, windowless, an everburning torch and a glow globe the only sources of light, both able to be dimmed with crude metal shutters. Two bunkbeds, four chests, a table with four chairs and a rack for armour and weapons- hardly a place that invites to stay longer.
But it is a start and in time she might be able to find something else or make changes to the room assigned to her. The meal served is different however- of good quality and plenty, spiced with exotic substances.
Obviously the Harmonium Quartermaster tries to keep his troops happy and content in peacetime, turning the meals into something the troopers can lok forward to and the act of eating into something they enjoy and can use to relax.
Then, when she returns to t the Measure she finds the woman at her table- evereything looking almost like it looked when she has left.
"Here." A folder is pushed into her direction. "Report to Notary Four Sevenveils in room 16. You will help him with some evidebce found in a recent raid on an Anarchist safehouse."

She took the folder and left with a respectful nodÂ… it was obvious she never really had use for Salutes where she had been trained and the Measure, should she have had any interactions with the Tower mages, would not be surprised. They were orderly and proficient but military pomp was never high on their agendas. If it was expected here, it was going to take some getting used to.
As directed, she made her way directly to Notary Sevenveils

The Notary is a tiefling with bald or shaven head, her piercing eyes lacking the pupil, are just red orbs in his dark blue face.
"So you are the new recruit. Sevenveils, Elija, Notary IV." His voice is cool and distanced, fitting the businesslike way he greeted her. There are several other people present, working on hardwood and stone tables, casting spells, engaging in arcane and alchemical analysis.
A small gesture to invite her to follow him to one of the tables and on it she finds several items.
A Dagger- a sharp two edged blade fixed to a bronze hilt and hardwood handle.
A drinking glass, opaque and of light blue colour, cracked.
A a towel of roughspun wool or a similar fabric.
A small toy- a spinning top.
"Those have been found in an Anarchist hideout which was raided recently. One of them has been used in a murder, one of them is a key, one of them should belong to the cell leader. This is what Divinations cast by one of our Clerics revealed so far.
Find out what you can about this items- and as time is a factor you have access to our collection of divination scrolls as well.
As this is your first assignment I offer you my help in this task- however if you want to do it alone I will not stop you."
((Feel free to use Alchemy, Spellcraft, Lore and Divination spells found in the 3.5 PHB for this task Or just use the SRD :) ))

She would take the three items, carefully holding them in a prepared cloth she took out of her bag and quietly make her way to an empty workspace. She began to prepare the surface of the space by whispering quiet enchantments and sprinkling some sort of dust over the surface. A brief ‘flash’ of energy emitted from the surface and then her chanting stopped. She then began to lay the items out in perfect order and began to take out her chosen tools. While she did all this, she hummed a quiet, yet happy little tune. For a mage, she could carry a note quite well.
The first to be placed on the table was Mephic. She stretched and yawned, much like all cats do and gave her hand a little rub. A few treats to keep her happy. After that an assortment of scrying tools one would expect from a professional Diviner and finally, a finely crafted and perfectly formed crystal ball. It was, merely by its appearance, ancient in age.
One by one she would take the items and examine them with Mephic. Spells were cast, beginning with comprehend languages. If she managed to catch a voice or a vocal echo, she wished to be able to understand what was said. This was followed up with a detect thoughts spell for much of the same reason as the comprehend languages. One never knew what they would hear and what they would discover.
As she moved her hand over the crystal ball, Mephic would sit in front of it and watch the images portrayed inside, its acute feline vision missing nothing. It was assumed that Keshia benefitted greatly from this sight during these times.
The Crystal ball took care of spells such as “Scrying” so she didn’t have to worry about that.
It was at this point that her experience as a fully trained tower mage kicked in. Spells like Legend lore were cast on each item. Should the exact information about who touched what was revealed, she would end her search with a discern location spellÂ… and immediately share the information, and exact location, of the subject she scryed.
All notes and information would be handed over once complete. ThenÂ… she would rest, the strain of the castings showing on both her and Mephic.
(((Will PM stats)))

It takes a lot of time and it is exhausting- the room's air soon stifling and warm the whispered conversations of the other casters turning into a muffled, silent droning in the background.
The dagger has a lomng history of violence it seems- but so far it took no life of an intelligent being. It sems the last owner has been some trash collector who used to haunt the Slags before she was eaten by a spider and the dagger has been found by someone else. Who this is is unknown, he or she left not much of an impression so far.
The drinking glass seems to be the favourite item of an elderly man- many memories and emotions tied to this item.
The towel.... there is a flash of fear, of anger and despair, the emotions of someone dying, strangled with it slowly.
Last is the toy and there is the impression of it spinning on a wooden table plate, a crack in reality opening nearby, leading to some fertile, steaming jungle.

She would carefully place the items at the end of her table for them to be picked up. She would then fill out the forms that would be supplied to her. Her remarks on the forms would be as follows;
She would then wait for further instruction[/i]wrote:“The dagger, although part and parcel to a violent and turbulent existence, has not been used to take the life of another, at least another of above animal intelligence. It has only recently come into the possession of the last owner, its previous owner, a Slags scavenger, succumbing to the attack of a large spider. This newer possessor hasn’t had need to use it much as their image had yet to become a part of the Blades history. It recently only existed as a tool, nothing more.
The glass carries with it an emotional attachment. A man, elderly in years, used it often and the echoes on it seem to tell that he was attached to the glass on an emotional level. If the glass is not with him, I am to assume the man no longer lives as he would probably ensure it stayed with him and not be permit it to be taken.
The Towel was most recently used as a Garrote. I had felt fear anger and despair upon it so can surmise it was probably used in a crime of passion or opportunity and not premeditated murder. A poor weapon to use, it was probably used by one close to the deceased, perhaps a wife or husband or other similar family member or friend. A professional or well planned killer would have used something more efficient as a towel had the chance, more so than other weapons, to fail.
Finally, the toy. It spins but without joy. I doubt it has been used by a child in many years. It will, however, unlock a portal close to a table with a smooth wooden plate upon it. The two items used in tandem. A portal that leads to a place of many exotic scents and humid temperatures. A jungle, perhaps a prime. It has been carried back and forth between this place (hence the scents of the place strong upon it) so stands to reason it can also be used as a return key once there.”

Notary Sevenveils read through the forms quickly, adds some notes of himself then grins broadly.
"Excellent work", the tiefling says. "Now we have two trails to follow- this improvised garrote here fits to a corpse that turned up a day ago in the Slags. This information will make the investigator's life a lot easier.
Now to the toy.... we suspect it opens a portal that is used by the Revolutionary League to move supplies and personnel into and from this town.
We need its exact location, and we need it fast. Use your spells, perhaps also check the records our allies from the Fraternity of Order have- after all they are really obessed with portals and claim to know every single one.
As soon as you know where it is you will contact Notary III Normul to lead his strike team to this location.
Can you do this?"

She would nod to him and reply
“I’ll do my best to reach out to the Fraternity but have no real idea who to contact. I doubt my rank will carry much influence but will inform them it has been requested by you to be expedited. Once I have the information, I will accompany Notary III Normul to the location of the portal so that I can show them exactly where it is. It would be best if I don’t follow them through, however, as it would be detrimental for one hindered as I am to wander a hostile area”
She then begins to pen a letter for the Fraternity before preparing a closer inspection of the small toy. She uses further castings of Legend lore to try to pry the information from the Top.
