An officer enters the waiting room, takes a look at them, and scowls...

"Lady's grace! What in the nine hells am i to do with you three?"

He looks at the application forms he holds in his hands, then scowls again.

"None of you are Harmonium material. Go back to whatever holes you crawled out of."

"What? You've not even given us a chance! I didn't come down here because I'm some wet behind the ears boy looking to show off a fancy suit of armor, I want to make a difference in this world, and I'm sure these gentlemen feel the same way. Can you at least give us a shot?"

Gerard stands calm in the face of the outburst his back straight, his footing and posture secure his chin straight and unclenched.

"I am not seeking enlistment to prove anything, I am not signing up to win popularity contests, I am here because it is something that needs to be done for so very few have the stomach to take to the streets, I've served in garrisons and in armies in many cities across many realms and this time is no different. I would prefer to assume vigilence over this city with the support and endorsement of its determined and approved of law enforcement but if you think I am some child trying to play at soldier you are wrong, I am a soldier and I have a duty to perform no matter where my feet tread".

The officer steps back and smiles at the two who responded.

"Excellent. Ability to keep a cool head is a trait we admire. Very well, we can proceed with the testing."

"Here are some pamphlets giving some information about our organization, a questionnaire that you must complete, and another form requiring your personal information such as name, place of residence, and next of kin.

When you have read the information, and completed all the forms, please submit them to Factotum Charles at the desk and we will inform you of our decision as soon as your application has been processed."

When they the questionnaire she will see a large number of questions relating to their background, motivations for joining, and other personal questions.

((OOCly - write some information about your reasons for joining and why you think you will make a good Harmonium officer)).

There are also 3 questions at the end of the questionnaire that need answering:

1) You see a small boy, obviously poor and starving, stealing bread in the Bazaar. What do you do?

2) A fight breaks out in Bazaar between two groups of people, the details are uncertain of why the fight started. What do you do?

3) A dispute arises in the Bazaar between two merchants regarding who has rights to set up their business at a particular stall. What do you do?

((ill give it a day or so to allow all to respond))

I want to be able to take an active role in making Sigil a safe and secure place to live. I feel my past experience as a militiaman and my ability to find common ground between people with help me mitigate problem situations before they arise will help me maintain the peace. My past experience as a guard captain and sword instructor will give me the patience and insight to teach and lead others. My vigilance and devotion to Helm will keep my eyes open to both what is in front of me and what moves in the shadow.

1) You see a small boy, obviously poor and starving, stealing bread in the Bazaar. What do you do?

Approach the perpetrator cautiously without confronting him to verify race and age if possible. Barring results from a simple look over, I would ask his name and age.
If indeed a child, if it's the first time, I make him return the beard and give him a verbal reprimand, then offer him food and lead him to an orphanage or the appropriate people to do such. For a repeat offender, he or she would be turned over to the appropriate authorities to be put into a youth corrective program.
If the suspect turns out to be a halfling or some other adult in the guise of a child, he should be taken for questioning, and depending on circumstance, either be put to work or have charges pressed.

2) A fight breaks out in Bazaar between two groups of people, the details are uncertain of why the fight started. What do you do?

Firstly, call for backup, then attempt to verbally stop the altercation, unless there is an immediate threat to someone's life. If the fight doesn't stop or someone is about to be killed, I would intervene physically. Once the fight was stopped, one way or another, I would separate all parties involved until each can be questioned individually.

3) A dispute arises in the Bazaar between two merchants regarding who has rights to set up their business at a particular stall. What do you do?

I would ask each to produce his or her business license. If both parties have a legitimate claim, I would ask one of the parties to use a nearby vacant stall and file for a refund for the mix up. If neither party has a legal claim to the stall, I would ask them to either come to a compromise or have both use a different stall.

My instructors and mentors once told me that for every resident in a city there must be one soldier with a shield and eyes to watch over them. Sigil is far from a normal city and I believe that the ratio is abit more serious then typical. We have a staggering amount of races and personalities as well as potential threat levels to the balance and harmony of Sigils operations, for every visitor and resident it seems there is a need to have three or more pairs of eyes and shields to stand vigilence, that the city might prospor and know harmony. I know deep down inside my attention to details and unwvering ability to remain open minded and vigilent will allow me to carry out my dutys in an acceptable and non abrasive manner.

The Questions

1) You see a small boy, obviously poor and starving, stealing bread in the Bazaar. What do you do?

As cold hearted as this sounds, child or not one must take a strict stern approach to this matter. The child must told what is "right" and what is "wrong" as far as the law of the city is concerned, children often need a gentle touch when educateing them what is right and wrong but as a soldier we are tasked with upholding thet law it falls to the childs parents if any to educate the children in how to get what they want, need or desire with out breaking the law. It is not our job to coddle the down trodden, the orphange exists for that reason and the city guards have a duty to do and it must be carried out professionaly and more to the point sternly and with a firm stance upon violations of the law.

2) A fight breaks out in Bazaar between two groups of people, the details are uncertain of why the fight started. What do you do?: Detain the parties involved get them off the street so the city operations may resume and the place restored to harmony and call the guvners to settle te dispute. The Harmonium are he wardens not the judges or jury.

3) A dispute arises in the Bazaar between two merchants regarding who has rights to set up their business at a particular stall. What do you do? IF they both have merchant liceses help them find a stall suitable to their needs, if they dont have the propor documents then tell them to stop their peddlikng until they gain the propor authority to do so and direct them to the nessicary city adminsitrators.
