I'm quite happy to see my impressions were wrong and we indeed have almost all factions represented. :)

Surprised that Indeps are so low, and that Ciphers are so high!

Also bear in mind that this only represents a single character by any particular player. I have several factionaries but have only voted for my main. I'm sure some of the factions have a higher activity than what is shown here.

I would be very interested in seeing a detailed number of how many faction members are Factotum or higher. Seeing as how they would be the most dedicated to their respective factions I imagine this would offer a little more insight into how much people are actually contributing to the faction.

I know there are at least five different Sensate Factotums or Factors for example. (Aleis, Trissa, Sasha, Lucelle, and Quinn)

We have Ciphers?

If there's anything this poll has made me realize, it's that my characters are really spread out across the factions. It's a shame I don't play any of them. :V

I'd also call this a measure of how much a DM is -interested- in a given faction, more than anything. Hell, for Signers, about half a year ago we were plain just offered 'you will be made Factotum if you convert literally any one person to this faction sincerely', and I'm not exaggerating there. It's easier to get rank in a faction if the DM staff is generally more enthusiastic about it or they're able to tie it into their plots or interests easier. This is part of why the Law factions have the history and community perception that they do, instead of say Dustmen or Sign of One.

As to the topic, I've played about every faction except Xaositects, Dustmen, and Revo. League. I enjoy playing ill-represented factions more than anything, and my current main is an eladrin Signer. I love that faction more than most, shame there's so few members.

At the moment each faction has its own DM, If you have an idea for an event for your faction feel free to contact them. While we do try and give each faction attention, if there are no players driving plots then you likely won't see many.

Athar, Believers of the Source, Dustmen - Lotus
Bleak Cabal, Doomguard, Revolutionary League - Iggwilv
Fate, Mercykillers, Sign of One - MimiFearthegn
Fraternity of Order, Society of Sensation, Xaositects - LiquidDreamer
Free League, Harmonium, Transcendent Order - Ariella

As I mentioned in the other thread, where only part of my post was quoted in the original post. Single strong personality driving things enthusiastically is generally speaking far more efficient for Factions than having half-dozen people competing for attention and scrutinizing others behavior. Nope, if you want success in Faction, it's actually much easier solo and get things rolling.

I've tried both in factions with heavy involvement and in factions where I was practically the only member. Difference in these two is that in the former the other players are inclined to either reep in your works benefits, get into moot arguments IC and holding back any public results, or at best make you have less to do since you're dividing the small amount of cases you might have to fulfill. In the latter, well you decide where to take it all, no one's giving you blek except people who don't even belong to the faction, whose opinion hardly matters. :P

Naturally there's the whole "you should try to represent the faction correctly" which is kind of obvious so I haven't felt the need to whip that point around.

Also market your character more, make sure people come to you when they need something you offer. Don't be skittish, you're the best because reasons, act by it. :P Do something for your faction or do something for the Sigil in the name of your action. Nobody will give a toss if you just add <faction name> here and there. Yeah, it's going to need some creativity and research in some factions, but that's kind of part of the point.

@MrO

I agree with basically everything you said, except the "marketing" part. Some characters are selfish/independent or simply not very sociable and they should also have a role to play.

I agree to extent, but in a social game, and roleplaying is very social, the "anti-social" (I use the term loosely) are kind of going to be at a disadvantage. They're going to have to find some way to make it work.
