Caterina makes her way back from the Barracks to the City Court. She heads inside past the crowd of people who have businesses there into a small dimly lit poorly heated office. The place clearly does not receive the benefit of the Fraternity's budget the way some of the offices of the factions more illustrious members.

She sits down at a desk and reaches into a draw for some pages of Fraternity headed paper and a quill. She writes out two letters.

I would like once again to express my appreciation for the cooperation and support you have shown. Furthering our conversation I would like to formally request in writing that Notaries Greene and Burke be allowed no access to the prisoner Roy Marcus

I would like to request a second autopsy on the body of Sara Marcus.  I would particularly like to confirm that the body is indeed that of Sara Marcus and not that of her twin, and suggest the use of a speak with dead spell to have the deceased confirm their own identity as a recent investigation has brought this into doubt.

Regards Fraternity Aide Caterina Arnders

The first letter would be sent to the Barracks the second to the Mortuary.

Contrary to popular believe we do like to be as cooperative as protocol will allow. Per your request to disallow said guards has been granted. Should you need further assistance do not hesitate to ask.

Our initial examination of the body did reveal an anomaly that had not existed in previous examinations of Sara Marcus. A ward had been placed on the body to disallow it to be raised. We went ahead and performed a more through examination and were about to send the results off to the Harmonium that this is not the body of Sara Marcus but that of her twin sister. Not to tell anyone their job here but this case does not seem as open and closed as it once did.

Upon receiving the letters in reply Caterina would reach into her desk draw and produce a quill a pot of ink and a sheet of paper. She begins to write another letter this time on a page headed: Internal Memo. The next step in the battle she fights from behind her desk.

When she has finished it she takes her letter from the Dustmen and her copy of the statement she took from Marcus in the barracks. She then seals both in the envelope and places it in the internal post to be sent to the Guvner in charge of the Marcus trial.

I represent the defendant in the trial for the murder of Sara Marcus. I took the following statement from the defendant while he was in custody and based on it I took the liberty of making a follow up inquiry.  What I found corroborates his story (please see attached.)

Based on this I would suggest that he cannot be tried for the murder of Sara Marcus as we have no proof that Sara Marcus is actually dead. Whilst there clearly is a case to investigate I believe that this is a significant  enough revelation to warrant a further investigation.

Although normally I am aware under these circumstances a defendants legal aide would request them released and placed under house arrest or granted bail there has already been an attempt to silence Roy Marcus and in that light I would like to request that the defendant be get in Harmonium custody for his own protection.

Kind Regards. Aide Caterina Arnders

Your findings please me greatly in this and we will use what influences we have to see that a through investigation is completed. I find it suspicious that the arresting officer has disappeared. See to it he is brought in for questioning.

As for a release and house arrested, in this case such a thing may be tricky. However there are enough tangibles that you should fight for this. With the evidence found so far even the Harmonium can tell that something in this case is not right.

I am impressed with what you have uncovered in such a short period of time. Keep up the good work.

Julius Ahestes enters the prison, the barely alive body of Tom Marcus over his shoulder.
His leathers are bloody and the left pauldron shows a bright gash where some blade had bitten in the darkened metal.
But he is pleased, remembering the relieve and joy on Sara's face as she was freed from her captor's grasp.

"Lock him up.", he says to the namer who is in charge for the holding cells today, setting the body down.

Then he sits down, writind a short report to Arwyl:
wrote:Factor Swansong,

I was able to apprehend the fugitive Tom Marcus (now prisoner 124863-15454-20) in his hideout in the Undersigil Village.

His attempt to resist arrest lead to violence that resulted into him being severely wounded but he is alive and stable.
With him was Sara Marcus who accused 124863-15454-20 of rape, murder and framing his brother Roy for crimes he has not commited.

For further questioning she can be found at Bowler's Road 25/3. As the woman showed signs of post traumatic stress I found it appropriate to release her to return home until we need her again.

Justice has been served,

Julius Ahestes, namer.

Tom Marcus has been apprehended and thrown in a cell. He has admitted to the murder of Sara Marcus' twin sister, framing his brother for murder, kidnapping, and rape. He seems anxious to speak with Notaries Greene and Burke. His request is being denied and we have informed The Harmonium of his capture. It should not be a problem as Mr. Marcus has retired from the Harmonium but we feel it best to cover all venues. We will hold him indefinitely until the trial. I will leave word with the guards that you will be by for questioning at your nearest convenience.

I would like to thank you for the efficiency with which the task was completed. I agree with your assessment that it is best Mister Marcus stay in your custody until such a time that he is tried.  As you suggest I will in due course come to question him.

Regards  A10 Caterina Arnders.
