Azrielle....trapsed through the cultist temple alongside of Krtsm and Hjyng, saw glint of greed in one's eye when knowledge of lost gems was read from the book where the dark tentacle manifestation was found, made and received threat with one almost undead for travelling too close with his bloodsucking partner, placed plated boot across the desolate gray waste eventually reaching stronghold of Niflheim....Azrielle, black on gray, blended and absorbed the darkness, innocence already dead.

***

Darling...I shudder hearing that word from a certain pair of red lips and her biting comments and insults are coated in smiles that are completely lacking in sincerity intending only to get a rise and manipulate. I flexed my abilities and attempted retorts to match, trying not to let the anger I know to be within me loose, so as not to give her more to feed that lust of hers...was a near thing...her insults digging at a weakpoint of mine...just too much..I told her in the end to stay away from us all...Stas too ..though she 'suggested' to me to ask her of that gem in her chest that pains Stas so.....

I dread the thought that we may actually come to need her to complete what we must...if I still believed I would have made prayer then that 'that' would not come to pass.

***

A meet with Liliara, under guise of confession and simple chat. Information was passed, updates made, caution given not to let this information change the way she acted towards anyone. But she needed to know the latest. She had not been present at previous meeting. When we heard name of one of whom we had been speaking enter the nearby booth by mistake, we were on our guard, but we were not disturbed. We kept our voices at a hush.

Hopefully the next time we meet, we can talk of simpler things and I can get to know her a little better. In the meantime I promised to speak to the others, to try and get the other two tieflings not to go gadding about naked or scantily dressed for offending other's sensibilities. While the safehouse appears 'safe', living in close quarters with these people is going to test us all. I sympathised with her and told her I would do what I could.

"She wants a bleeeeeeeder boss....ye know....where tha blade is as sharp 'n keen as can be, tha it cuts inta the flesh, tears it about, diggin inta hold the'enemy, slices and pierces, reaaaal nasty woundin',and the blood o the foe merges wi that infused from the last one...so tha the scythe becomes drippin wi it...fancy craft to get tha enchantment...but I seen somethin in a book...."

Piri heaved two ingots of the rare metal upon the table, Kelth had sent her many of his supplies including these. Seeing the ingots, the githzerai Karath'rok took on more interest, professional crafter that he was. He gave her an answer in his usual stilted dry tone, 'yes' that he could do it, craft such a weapon with this rare material and get it to her later that day for her to complete the enchantment for the darker blood weave.

She joined her ole boss later, him and miss Jade and Kukri-Kaite in an adventure to go 'boppin' spirits, play games of puzzles in a huge castle, dreary place. But her light and firework displays seemed to please the others, she got a lot of fun out of it, dodging the worst of the enemy fire, using a new spell or two to make some of the nasties go pouff and even excelled with some wand-work at severely injuring the huge horror guarding its treasure at the end...fun fun fun!

*****

"Blood for blood....death for a death... "

Azrielle's words were finished off by Krtsm...

"....and pain for pain.."

"I fokkin' 'ate it!"

"Think I want it?!" moisture appeared to her eyes as she regarded him but the agreement was made.

"Let it be so" she nodded, pursing her lips, not liking it any more, but as Krstm said and Njyng agreed..

"If you want the option with the best chance...then we do it her way"

And Nemesis was overruled. The table lay in pieces where he had smashed it however.

Moods....fury the one day, uncertainty the next, closing up even to Kelth during this internal struggle. I wanted to be sure we were not going to kill an innocent. I could take the stigma of the citizens, the reward that lies over our heads if outed, cope with hiding, deal too with the close living conditions, manage with the need to continually change outfit to keep the law off our tail. But...I needed to be sure. The fury had gone from the previous meeting, left with ..yes..a hint of doubt. Despite no longer keeping the faith with Pelor, wanting justice, proper justice did not mean we should blindly take action without being....very sure.

But hells! Nothing was happening about Marius, still at large with warrant on his head for how long? Weeks now. The Mercykillers and Harmonium may be close to finding and capturing Shadowsworn...but of him? there was little chant.

Mashanie and Mir left to sort out an idea Masha had which had got us all amused with the sheer devilry and daring behind it. And I had moment with Kelth to discuss the current plan. It was...awkward, neither of us comfortable with it...and the more we talked it through, the more he was less convinced of it. The risk afterwards of suspicion against...me...was too great. I moved between anger and frustration. Wanting to lash out and at the same time draw comfort, give comfort...but ended up hearing only that he blamed himself for the way things were.

NO! Marius is to blame...and I WILL deal with him, I must....for the sake of our lost son, only a mere speck of life but one that signified so much. Innocent life, bleeding out as I was dealt stab to back from a dagger, effectively manipulated through Kelth by that maniac...I will have his blood. As for the rest...we shall see...I may not get vengeance upon Shadowsworn...but not for want of trying.

What an innocent fool I have been for so long. From simple farmhand, to priestess, to healer, to servant...blithely smiling and in good faith helping others, coming out of my own shell slowly....to wife, to mother...but the last was not to be...to what now? ....Executioner was the word upon his lips and I spoke it too. My eyes are now opened. My babe was not the only innocent to die. I fear my own was lost with it.

I cannot go back to that simple life...to be farmer again, not in Sigil at least. My simple dreams...of opening that shell and finding a pearl, of flying with Sorath and bearing Kelth's weight together in glorious battle, of bearing son and happy open future with my love...now seem impossible. I cannot face him or his god. And it hurts. To mention it, to the only one I can share the heaviest burden of this hurt, leads him to blame himself and I can't put him through that when he has the burden of leading us through this. Write to him....he said. Sure... I replied. But I cannot.

Moods....vary from wrath, hurt, doubt...ever circling....and then there is the emptiness...that is the worst. So I made to lighten my mood, just deal with the here and now, smile at the precious moments of calm and comfort, take pleasure in his warmth....prepare for the storm that is brewing...until I feel the cut of my scythe upon that masked maniac's neck and watch the blood flow...perhaps then...the emptiness will ease.

Old habits die hard.

It is easier to dive back into that shell, bottle it up...only it means for some explosion later.

Mir, is at risk of being enslaved for what she is. The wards that Kelth helped to set up, only prevent her being summoned at will, it doesn't prevent this....Nar....so many things are still unknown to me...from persuing and trying to reach and capture her by physical means. And what can I do to help? Little, other than attempting to guard full-time scythe at ready, as I did once for Kelth, offering my wing of protection and flight for her needs perhaps in a reconnaissance. Once, I might have called upon more powerful help, delved into celestial and divine warding and protections so that that group of what, fiend? cannot reach her, cannot even get close. I still maybe could...risk the Lady's wrath even again by calling upon Barr if need be, even in Sigil. But I don't want to face them and I'm no longer certain they would help.

Useless. A breath of fresh air indeed. Liliara's ridiculous attempt to deceive the non-Misfit present, Kaite, and lighten mood caused his own mood. But it was not her fault. A simple throw away comment cut him deep I think. I followed, listened to Kelth, listened to a new plan, was prepared to support but felt the distance.

"Devil take that bitch, if she dares to use her wiles, she will speak plain or I will not be held accountable for my actions!"

Upon my outbursts, he became a man of few words, I felt his burden, tangible...though that gulf between us was but empty air, even taking his hand in mine didn't breach it. Fine the shutters were down, on both sides, bottled within, so neither would burden the other. So we headed back to the others but the light mood we had left them in had gone too, and Kaite passed us by calling one a 'pig', Masha? perhaps, though I've no idea why. All I knew...was that I needed to release this but I could not to him. I followed after Kaite.

"Come with me to the beach"
"Anything for you sweet thing"
"...as a friend...just..as a friend"

I saw him upon the stair, cursed under my breath...he was worried for me, but turned about to head away as he saw my need and decision to turn to Kaite, his back facing me an accusation where words were not necessary, showing his own hurt and rejection. I couldn't do it......"sorry Kaite.....sorry"....could bear this emptiness no longer and turned back to him.

"You bloody idiot"...and a small dam burst, a clenched fist to his chest and another, followed by more and a rainfall of tears. Liliara entered carrying a trayfull of tea, as I laid those blows, a kind smile that turned swiftly to shock and question as she saw my physical tirade. "Not now!" Kelth's bark had her heading back down the stair. The energy behind the blows finally slowed, leaving bruise to chest and fist. Once lightened, arms tightened around, finally embracing, comforting.

"Don't shut me out....we...cannot...afford....this"
"I knooow"

Sobs dying, I realised that those old habits of mine, now causing his, once again, were a weakness that we couldn't afford to have anymore. Only through unity and support would we prevail. A hard lesson to learn, one I will probably still need to be taught. No one said married life would be easy.

I spent the next few moments in apology to my old friend, then followed on after him back to the safehouse.

I did owe her explanation. So I gave her one, but kept it simple talking of my moods and emotions of late, giving nothing of the path I was now on with Kelth and recent developments, intentions although...I did request a favour of her.

On returning to the safehouse, I found note, saying the place was compromised. I was to gather my things and meet at new point. Decisions were made on how to manage this last change. Frustrating to say the least.

It was with a tinge of sadness I listened to Kelth talking of the path that now lay before him, and his thoughts and beliefs. My own are in turmoil and a part of this emptiness I feel. Tis....nay...twas, a part of me for so long, in my blood and my being for over a score of years that...giving up that life, those, thoughts, that presence has been harsh. I still bear the mark. In the end, I couldn't quite go through with ridding myself of that part of it that was left....the rash thought that made me want to have it removed has gone.

I said the words of forgiveness, though I had never blamed him for any of this...but he needs to forgive himself, if that means I have to repeat those words daily then so be it. He felt a loss of honour, something to his Rashemi core and yet he is still the most honourable man I know. How he should redeem himself in the eyes of this core I know not, perhaps he can't...vengeance against those who have done us and others wrong is but one way. But it led me to think, we all have a core, an inherent belief that drives us, makes us what we are. What is mine...now? Has it really changed at all. I have some thinking to do.

He would support me whatever my beliefs, I could do no less than return that promise, though yes, it left me sad. His view of Pelor, of the meaning of gods and their purpose in our lives seem to differ from my own, or what had been mine for so many years....I missed the simplicity and innocence of that time, full of hope of future. Yes I was confused....I had lost faith, lost my way...by my actions had caused loss of favour...I accept that...but the meaning of faith and what it stands for to me, still holds true and I'm not sure he shares that same view.

Gods are not there for us to test them, pick and chose which we fancy to suit mood at whim, one that suits us for the moment like a piece of fashion item...tis they who choose us, we who serve them and who are tested 'by' them. If Pelor no longer saw me fit to serve, I had failed them and my celestial kin in the process...I did not see the point to 'test' out another god? ...better to remain faithless surely. You are answerable to no one but yourself and your closest. Safer that way. Empty though that feels.

I met with another an hour later, one whose own faith and belief was strong and as deep as mine had been, demonstrated in regular and routine observance of ritual and prayer. I was not unfamiliar with prayer, I had studied a couple of years to be priestess as teenager until my true and natural calling was noticed. I had been scathing of her prayers the eve earlier and I apologised to her for my outburst with brief explanation. But what really caused me concern....just as I had opened up and made promise to be faithful and talk to Kelth before others, to share burden, was she dealing me a hard test of that promise with her sense and concerns of one in our group. I asked her not to make unwarranted accusation based on some what? sixth sense? and not yet to speak to Kelth. But would I?

Piri made a cheeky grin as she took the letter from the street urchin, sprinkled a little bit of pixie dust to his hand and gave him some pie as payment, something she'd acquired from the Carnival a few days earlier...she was out of jink, skint, completely but was loath to sell any more of her sparklies and essences just to have coin jingling in the invisible pockets of her wee blue dress.

She read the note. "Naya spoke highly of your talents with crafting, and I would like to emplore your help" it started, she beamed from ear to pointy ear, snickering at the word "emplore". It was from the horned male 'tiefer', one of 'the big guy's gang' and he was asking for a special craft for his sweetheart. The end of the note however, contained a little threat.

"...Oh and just so you know, if Mir gets wind of this, no more tail rides.. ever!"

She grinned slyly to herself and winked at her companion Tixie who was flitting about inquisitively peeking over Piri's shoulder at the note. So, her best 'tailride' thought he could get best of her did he, she snickered. Well, she'd keep schtum...not tell the pretty redhair miss Mir...ensure she got more tailride but...she'd get her own back.

Piri, tongue peeking out from the side of her mouth, drafted her own scribbled note back, bearing many splodges upon it in pink ink, she handed it to the same urchin for another piece of pie.
wrote:
Hey mister Masha!

I kin do that. Ye do needs yer own cloak wi the resistances fust. Then I can do the crafting. I got all the gems and materials, but the gems are pretty rare 'ticularly one requires a rogue sparklie - I only got one mebbe two an they was from the big guy who dun craft no more. So, here's the deal.

Gonna cost you around xxxx thou jink fer the other two craftin's. I'll reduce it fer any of part the two agreements:

-by xx jink if ye gets yer lovebird miss Mir ta wear it pink fer two weeks when ye gives it, kin give ye colour spell fer tha, wearing off after two weeks
- by another xxx jink if ye promise that yer next rogue stone ta sell back to me at a fair price.

If any of that interests ye, send me word or see ya's in the bazaar!

Piri
To be fair to the tiefer, mister Masha, he didn't blink and agreed to the pink, the promise and even supplied one of the gems which further allowed her to reduce the price but still fill her empty pockets nicely. She got him to wait while she crafted one enchant for a doggie gnoll....so she could see him give the new cloak...she loved the soppy parts....it had been a while since she'd played cupid in any form....and left the material in his hands, powdered with fresh pixie dust, pink colour spell and enchanted sparkle.... Love's Protecting Embrace.... she named it on his instruction, the soft hearted cutie!

She sighed dramatically, tiny hands clutched to her tiny chest as she sat upon the tiefer's shoulder, tugging at one of his curved horns, watching closely the gift and the receipt, ensuring she kept right in the middle of it to get the best view and effect...ensuring she captured a little of the magick of the love that fluttered between the pair.

"So sweeeeeeet" she giggled later to Tixie as they fluttered off to play.

I have two choices as I see it.

Remain faithless, make no step to face my father and guardian nor to find redemption in Pelor's eyes. Persue the path of vengeance and settle a debt in blood. My faith is my love.

The opposite.

Black and white.

Or is there a shade of grey?

*****

This limbo is the worst kind of torture. How Mir can remain smiling through what she faces defies me but then life goes on, one hopes. We do our best to help, and hope our best is good enough.

I think back to a quiet talk I once had with Zilvai...perhaps her way is the right way, one of the most selfless people I know....but as I am now, I cannot do much good at all.

At the moment, I feel like a killing machine, swift to anger, dealing harshly when the scythe finds its mark....and not much else....how does that really help others in the end?

But this is not me...not the real me, not my core.....I need to find that grey.

Apart from a minor casual comment from Mashanie...too casual if you ask me on saying a certain person's name....there was nothing that could spoil my lighter mood that day. We all met for drink in the bar and at a lull in the conversation, I proposed that we share and explore some moments of sensate philosophy...it has been a while since I felt like persuing this in any capacity.

I asked them all to think of sense that they each enjoyed and to show or demonstrate it by way of location or object or anything really so that the others might experience it. We played simple game of dice to decide who was to go first and the order was determined....Masha, Mir, Kelth then I.

Masha brought us to the plane of Karasuthrra and in the shadows of the overhanging huge flowers, standing amongst the tall grasses, I allowed his touch. It felt cool to my brow and the next moment I could see Kelth's form as a mass of swirling shadow about his physical form. I was encouraged to touch it, use my hand to shape it, but I hestitated from doing so too much and kept it simple but definately enjoyed the sense of shadow that Masha allowed me. Kelth, in turn, when so touched, played with our forms more, making wing larger, turning Mir's horns and a crafted a silly shadow hat to Masha's own head. In return, the two tieflings in unison, did something so unique it quite took my breath away....creating through shadow the form about and surrounding my love, the shape of a lion, allowing it to move...as it were its own lifeforce that was Kelth or part of Kelth. Curious... both interesting and amazing to watch.

Mir, created a form of her own art, a magical shape of light and dark to her palm that was fascinating to the extreme, captured the eye as it turned, glinted about the edges, both shone and darkened in tandem. I had only ever played with the light before, now hardly possible and this combination in art form was an experience of the visual, perfection in its own way. Though, from her comments she indicated she still had more practice to do, I noted that she hoped to exhibit her art one day and I made offer to organise a showing in the Civic Festhall, a Society event when she felt ready.

And dearest Kelth, brought us unity, sharing and bonding in sound form, pleasing the aural senses by having us all attempt with drum and bodhran, bazouki and deep male voice in harmony a musical experience. There was laughter as both Masha and I failed abysmally at first to pick up the rhythmn of the beat that Kelth required, but eventually we got there.

Heey hoo! the words of chorus we all joined in upon stays with me now and makes me smile.

As for my turn, the last one, I begged for a deferral. It required a visit to another level of plane and I also desired to make more preparation to give them anything of equal a pleasurable sensual experience as they all had given me.

Thank you my friends...I hope I can do your wonderful creativity and inspiration justice in my own simple way

Mir, Mashanie and Kelth sat near the waterfalls, blindfolded by red scarf, a few feet apart, as Naya grinning watched them, preparing her sensory experience

********

"My objective is to eliminate or distract your senses, all bar one. This will allow you to focus solely on that one to experience it in its truest and purest form. The method and demonstation is simple, but hopefully enjoyable."

I brought them to the beastland waterfalls and lake. I carried to my hands a sack with two baskets inside but the contents of it were unknown to the three. They were carefully wrapped, hidden and guarded by me so that they would not get glimpse or early sense of what was held therein. I had spent all day in preparation, a trip to ice plane, searching the market for items I required some time spent also in the Inn.

“I would like for each of you to choose and tell me one of the four elements that you wish to experience initially by this demonstration"

Mashanie chose fire, his reaction instant and immediate in his choice, before Mir could make the same. She wanted to but selected Water instead. Kelth chimed in 'Thunder' until I reminded him of the four elements being air, earth, fire or water and he settled for the Air, akin to Thunder I suppose.

From the basket I brought out three red silk scarves. Kelth would recognise them as three of the eight given as wedding gift from a past acquaintance, as yet unused. I asked each to sit close to the falls a few feet apart and to tie the scarves about their eyes as blindfold.

The sound of the water rushing and booming to the lake below would help to distract if not eliminate their sense of hearing. The blindfold removed their sense of sight. I asked them all them to place their hands to thigh until otherwise instructed, merely to keep their sense of touch to minimum and familiar. In turn, as I kneeled before each of them I quietly asked them to hold their nose with one hand, to pinch it, limiting too their sense of smell.

And it was like this I passed from one to the other, retrieved from the baskets a small item, touched it to their lips and invited them to partake of their chosen elemental surprise. I whispered to them, so each was left waiting and guessing, perhaps hearing the other exclaim, perhaps limited in hearing that too. The sense of anticipation was something I wished them also to feel, to heighten the experience and pleasure.

Water for Mir was a single frozen scoop of ice bearing an instant hit of strong sharp acidic yet fresh flavour of mixed citrus fruits. The icey cool of the sorbet immediately melted against the contrast of the warm mouth. The ice sorbet had managed to stay frozen on the journey, packed around more ice dug from the ice plane.

Fire for Mashanie was a bitter chocolate coated cherry, seeped in firewine that bursts upon the tongue once bitten into an explosion of the sweetened alcohol encased within. The heat and strength of the firewine was tasted to the back of the tongue leaving warming trail once swallowed and the lasting flavour of the bitter cocoa and cherry lingered behind.

Air for Kelth was a delicate pastry of soft sponge, dotted inside with small pieces of meringue, air filled cake and sugar mix, sweet and light, topped by a dollop of lightly whipped of cream. The whole, a wispy fluffy concoction with a subtle flavour of vanilla. He seemed to rather enjoyed the vanilla and sweetness of the dessert.

Once the first round was made, I invited them to choose again. Mir, took a fire, Mashanie, a water, both switching to experience that which the other had taken already, a true couple. Kelth, explored the Earth that I set to his lips, this being a slither of freshly baked seeded nut bread, slightly salty to taste, topped with a small piece of crumbly hard cheese. The flavour of spices, seeds, nuts and herbs, combined to an earthy taste. While not exciting as a sweeter offering, this honest morsel would satisfy any desire for the simple and savoury.

I sat back on my heels before them, watching their enjoyment of this simple sensory surprise and bid them to remove blindfold and enjoy the feast of desserts and elements more. Gorging on a few of the Fire cherries myself, in response to one of Mashanie's comments, I told them cryptically...

"..the secret is...to explore the sixth, after the fifth..."

...my meaning was of the so-called sixth sense to experience the fifth element...surely the ultimate experience for any Sensate to search for...

Mashanie produced a drink of 'Gehenna firewine' I think it was and, with our respective partners, we enjoyed a pleasurable...nay...a very pleasurable few hours in conversation, drink, dessert and.... friendly environment.
