Now this I've got to chime in on. That might have been a viable comment four or five years ago, but currently there are just a few viable PWs remaining in the "everybody's welcome" zone (so yes, I'm not counting things like ALFA), all of which fall at around the same level or considerably higher than ours. What server is left that falls into this category?Strawberry Jam,Jun 1 2016 wrote: Bzzt, it's an extremely high magic server. Yay!!! Oh wait wait this was just a cruel joke wasn't it? :(Ceremorph,Jun 2 2016 wrote: Okay then, next update we drop to +3 max enchant, a L15 cap, and implement a script removing all items of a value greater than 50000 gp from players' inventories.

No, not really. But I do believe that, things being as they are, any curtailing of the level of magic actually increases the dichotomy between casters and non-casters, which is already quite substantial.

Just a lil re:power attack, Tomekk, actually Whitefly is right, power attack doesn't play as nicely with dual wielding. You see so many people that use it with large two handed weapons, they know that it scales up by *1.5 this way. This extra bonus doesn't apply to small weapons in both hands and you probably want to keep your attack bonus higher at all costs to gain the highest effects.
You would still get regular power attack tho, if only to get overwhelming critical later on. But using it depends on the armor values of the monsters.

Is it possible to curtail the magic level just for the casters while mantaining the existing (if not augmenting it) for non-casters?

I didn't mean Power Attack is better with dual wielding, because its simply worthless there. You already take a -2/-4 AB hit, not to mention that small weapons gain no benefits from Power Attacking and your strength bonus is halved on your off hand, no matter the weapon.Strawberry Jam,Jun 2 2016 wrote: Just a lil re:power attack, Tomekk, actually Whitefly is right, power attack doesn't play as nicely with dual wielding. However, sneak attacks work just fine with two weapons.

I much prefer combat expertise when dual-wielding. Yes, your attack rate goes down, but your AC goes up by a fair bit. It balances out, imho. And if you don't wear heavy armor, the extra AC is nice.Tomekk,Jun 2 2016 wrote:I didn't mean Power Attack is better with dual wielding, because its simply worthless there. True but sneak attack can be resisted, and rogue levels reduce attack bonus as well. Without a thug base class I think only blackguard can give you sneak attack on full attack progression, which would work out nicely because it also gives you EDM access and charisma to saves.
Just a weapon tho, lets say 1d6 +3d6 extra +5 enchant. It's enough not to want to lower your attack bonus ever if you do have 18 attacks. That's potentially 72d6 + 90 in a round. If all attacks hit then you do between 162 - 522 base damage, just from weapon without any other bonuses applied yet.

I see you keep bringing up Friction and alike like its some godsend... but most bonus damages are elemental, and nearly everything on the server has Energy Resistance 10/15/20 to all elements except Sonic and Immunity to another.
So, frankly, that 3d6 is going to be doing 3-8 damage at most if you're facing a Fiend, the most common type of enemy.
As for Sneak Attack, there is an Epic Feat and Ruin items to allow 50% of your sneak damage to pass through. Sure, it's 50%... but do bear in mind that the creatures who have Sneak Immunity (Golems, Plants and Undead) aren't known for being the toughest monsters in terms of HP. :P
And for 18 attacks... no, you're not going to hit more than 8-12 at most late game (less if you're not buffed). Even a well built Fighter with max AB won't be hitting much with his last two attacks end game, cause the additional -5 penalties add up. But that is still nice single target DPS, and that's where Rogues and Archers excel at. ;)

Actually a few of those attacks are at your full attack bonus, and yes it does count. If a weapon has extra damage even if it's elemental it counts too. Remember some classes of the archetype people complain about do mostly elemental damage.Besides that's just the base weapon damage, it doesn't take anything into account like criticals, sneaks, edm, specialization, weapon spells, favored enemy, attributes. There are lots of sources of damage you could pick.
If NWN2 still uses the three phases, then I think you will get your first 6 attacks in before the enemy even has time to react. :P
Besides on a monk the attacks scale down -0/-3/-6/-9 and so on I think, and if my Psion with 13 attack bonus can sometimes hit things then I'm sure it's not a huge problem on this server.

No, Monk attacks don't scale down, and no, unless your medium BAB character is very well buffed, their last flurries won't hit for squatt.
Yes, and those archetypes have problems of their own... which is why you don't see Wizards using Fireballs when they Isaac's Greater Missile Storm and Avasculate. Or Warlocks blasting things with Fire or Cold for their DPS. They adapt, so can you to a lesser degree.
I have a feeling you only bring up the most positive aspect of everything, without actually weighing it with the negatives... its easy to make arguments that way, but they won't hold up when put up to scrutiny.
