Cadence, thanks a lot for your post, that is a lot of unique perspective for me since I only play men. I am not sure if I agree that female characters have an easier game, but I can say that I always feel like I am swimming with sharks when I am establishing a new character. My Marid was getting slut-shamed right away in his very first public scenes, before he had ever touched a woman, people were calling him "womanizer" and "slippery dick," other genie characters made efforts to assert superiority over him, and I felt like he was generally treated like a barbaric rapist creep or something for awhile (until I was able to establish that it was not the case) simply because he is a muscular heterosexual male. Thing is though, I dig these challenge and I feel like haters always just make my characters stronger.
As far as dicks in the bazaar, I for one don't really care. My character Chanan ap V'azari killed another character in the abyss once and cut his dick off. When the character confronted him in the bazaar later (which is sort of against the rules, but what can you do?), Chanan threw the severed member on the ground at his feet. I did not, however, emote anything about its dimensions or size, just that it was bloody and starting to rot. It's just a dick, man. :)
So Many Women.

To be fair I mostly play the bestial and "uncommon" races. I've had very few humans or elves while here.

I don't know why people get triggered over this so hard.

Honestly it's always been like that, it's not really anything new. The truth is a lot of guys like playing women, and most women prefer to play women. *Shrug.* I used to think it was weird but I just don't really care anymore.

I find that playing as female brings more pro social role play. Females tend to be viewed as more sociable and talkative in general. People tend to be more friendly with my toons even if they look evil if they are female. I don't mind playing all the sexes as there are pros and cons for them. I don't care if the majority leans towards females. In a mature setting you are going to see more people playing females. Just try to enjoy your experience.
Keep in mind that we do not see all the people in Sigil that are actually supposed to be there as the players represent a small portion of the population.

A very interesting topic to me.
Indeed there are those who play female characters largely for the erotic advantages. I contend that they arenÂ’t in the majority on this server. Many non-ERPers have highly coquettish characters. There are pros and cons to playing either sex, but having a female character, at least in my experience as well as the experience of those who IÂ’ve played with, bestows certain advantages that are preferred by many in the playerbase.
In my time on the server, I played about three or four main male characters who were either human or tiefling, as well as two main female characters. Though my characters have had a variety of identities with different factions and differing goals, there are certain personality traits that are usually very prominent in all the characters I play for a long enough time: assertiveness, troublemaking of some variety, and arguably having a mental disorder. IÂ’ve noticed a marked difference in how my male and female characters are received by others despite sharing these core traits:
Assertiveness:
Female- Generally a positive, lasting high interest response to a very assertive female. As an example, I had a female who occasionally castigated others in public for not following the law. Characters of both genders flocked to my character easily and quickly. For one of my female characters, I had a male orbiter within a day who regularly sent me unsolicited Pms and engaged in just about any kind of RP or plot I initiated. Later, this male friend (IC and OOC) gifted my character items as well spent a lot of time doing favors for my PC. After a week of RP, he unsuccessfully attempted to cash in on the favors by blatantly asking me OOCly if I would be willing to ERP with him with my female.
Male- Generally a negative, transient high interest response to a very assertive male. As an example -a male PC of mine sanctimoniously offered to help free a lone female slave PC in the bazaar, and within SECONDS there were two males who were not initially involved in the conversation nor had any prior interaction with the female attempting to ‘protect’ the female from me (Hilariously, both used the opener: “What’s going on here?!”) Strength checks were made within a minute, and I had to leave the bazaar within 5 minutes of starting the encounter or engage in PvP. On the way out of the bazaar, random female characters made disparaging remarks focused on male genitalia both to my character and the two other male characters. None of this personally offended or bothered me, but I was taken aback by the difference in response.
Causing Trouble:
Female- My most troublemaking female would publish libelous SIGIS articles. The response to her was powerful and lasting as she was either very despised (by most) or very loved (by a handful).
Male- My most troublemaking male would stealthily whisper threats and attempt to provoke characters with fights – usually in the bazaar or some other public place. He was also a general menace who took people’s souls via contractual agreements. Most did not give him too much notice outside of the immediate antagonizing that he did. Interestingly, he received the most attention after taking the soul of a popular female character.
Mental or Personality Disorder: Note- I tried to make the disorders subtle enough so that maybe ¾ of the people my PCs would interact with would think the character was just quirky, while ¼ would perhaps be suspicious of something more significant.
Female –
Character 1-Pathological Liar- Initially believed by many, then the tide quickly turned and the character was deemed largely untrustworthy.
Character 2-Murderous sociopath – Had many friends and sympathizers of both sexes who seemed to think there was justification for her murders.
Male -
Character 1-Pathological Liar and Multiple Personality Disorder: Initially some people found him to be suspicious, and that remained throughout, but his lies never seemed to make him famous (despite my efforts). He did become a very famous character (with numerous other PCs adopting his last name), but largely because of the plots he was in and his multiple personalities. To be fair, he didn't use SIGIS like my female Pathological Liar.
Character 2-Murderous sociopath- Had many enemies, and two ardent female sympathizers who seemed to think there was justification for his murders
Character 3- Debilitating phobias- Was largely ridiculed by everyone. Had a couple of good ‘friends’ who were more amused by his impotence than anything resembling true friendship.
Though I usually play human males, whenever I play a female, IÂ’m quite struck by how easy it is to fit in and find positive reinforcement for just about any kind of personality I adopt.
In other words, if I was someone who was looking for my PC to fit-in to the server, I would pick a female well before picking a male. That's why I think you see so many women.
