That's because you're looking at the differences between the 3.5 and 4.0 rulesets. Considering that NWN2 uses 3.5, the first example would be the one used.
....not to mention that "Angry Smash" as the name of a special ability is now reason 8,327 that I don't like 4th edition.
i was looking at troll for some time, until i found out they they have to get some other levels, if it says so (or something like that), which ruined what i had in mind. but i found another race, that is perfect (well, lack a little. but it fits very well. cant expect perfection :) )
Generally, if the race seems to be better than an alternative already in game, it will likely be modified or not approved... special races will not be a source for power

the race i was looking at, is Goliath, which dosnt seem powerful to me, when you look at other races
*starts praying* they just fitted for what i had in mind, very well. also their looks. i where thinking of seeing if i couldnt design them my self, or some of them (thought i dont have any experiance with designing a creature)
