Supposedly, the issue with allowing both, mithral armours and "100+ AC nymph spirit shamans" is, that that nothing prevents that 100 AC nymph to put that new mithral armour on, thus becoming 110+ Nymph.

That being sayed, there is one rare armour type, called "Splint Mail", which is normally the worst of heavy armours (and basiclly the worst armour type overall), giving only 6 AC and no DEX bonus... I think, a mithral version (without any bonuses other than material) of this could make it into server's loot tables without causing any imbalance, as it would just be "usable" (if not "useful") version of Splint mail.

That is an option, and there was atleast one mithral half-plate sold at one of the old auctions years ago (with some okay but not great enchants), so special suits of mithral non-optimal armors is a possibility.

And there's the one mithral chain that drops rarely and sells for more than just about anything in the game except maybe +5 monk boots (at least, last time I was playing regularly they were the most expensive player-sold item).

One of my characters has this with a +5 enchant and +1 regen ready and waiting to be sold, for anyone who's interested.

Mithral Splint mail would total up to 6 ac with 2 max dex, putting it below the net 8+1 from fullplate. No one would use it on account of being proficient with fullplate if they're proficient with splint mail.

It would count as medium armor, so it's edge-case useful for a lowish dex warlock with the feat that lets them use powers in medium armor... but yeah, not that great, that's why I made the one auctioned off as a half-plate instead, that atleast makes it on par with full plate iirc.

Elven Chainmail seemed fairly common and its a 5/4 armor.

Really wish we had Fighter restricted Mithral Fullplate tho.

I think the reason originally asked for mithral armor, was not actually because of the Dex AC increase. Rather, because as a ranger, you can only use your abilities with light armor (something I forgot) and that mithral armor gets 'shunted down' an armor category. Heavy becomes medium (useful for favoured souls & druids), and medium becomes light. (useful for bards, warlocks and rangers)

I agree that non-optimal types of mithral armor would be nice to see, if only for this utility alone.

Honestly speaking, AC demands on this server in my opinion are "Max out or die", which is in case of general diversity of choices, seems not to be ideal.

And thus the question of making "usable/useful" uncommon armour types is in my opinion relevant by itself, even though one can appchange anything into anything and being "Splint Mail" is only an information, written down in small, barely noticeable font, somewhere.

Oh so tempted to come up with a new level above gatecrasher, that automatically spawns if you're a cleric, have EDM, can cast arcane with a certain DC, or other hallmarks of a powerbuild. No extra XP, just a much tougher kill.

And yes, I'm feeling evil tonight, why do you ask?
