Shifting alignments are taken care of ingame, we have script that makes sure they lose some of their powers if their alignment doesn't match their requirements.

Another note on hips... anything done to prevent hips abuse is twice as bad for the poor rogues that use hide without having hips, and we really want them to have a place in SCoD too...

Also aren't Dilana and Betty different characters? Not that that was the point...

Heh, yes -" 10 points towards evil once", was my personal ruling at the time, but there was no clear cut rule amongst the DMs then.

Now that there is, however, there shouldn't be any more debate: killing paladins repeatedly will continue to shift your alignment towards evil.

Or the Animate Dead spell could be simply considered as something like - Creating "Deathless" which is a subtype of Undead creature not necessarily evil.

More in lines of... Creating spirits that want justice for their deaths.

See Book of Exalted Deeds.

Animate Dead wasn't an evil spell in 2nd edition (where planescape arrived) or 3.0... only first in 3.5... but since it's mostly a 3.5 ruleset we use, it's still safest to assume it evil...

From personal experience of playing a Paladin, since she has an intelligence of more than 8, she has enough common sense to not go into Mercuria where the guards are known to kill all on site. Does that make them evil? No. Would she be evil for defending herself from groups if she went in, knowing that it was their home plane that they guard religiously? Debatably.

Also, people that go into Mercuria to kill stuff should be prepared to face heavy RP consequences from the player base. No exceptions. "Because they attacked me" just wont hold water with a lot of PC's.

But I love to play hide and seek with blind Paladins

Actually the reason I go there is because it's a lot easier to solo then Abyss. At least for me. Dunno why the eagle eyes can't see me, and then Erinyes can :)

But yeah, makes sense that you become evil in the process, so I just leave them alone then.

This is coming from my sister, who was visiting from her new place and reading over new threads,

"I played a dumb as nails druid, and even she knew that it wasn't nice to go kill Paladins, who would think it was?"

Anyways, my opinion... haha, paladins dying. Good. ^.^

Personally, I have no issues with this.

1. It makes sense that killing pally's are evil.
2. DM's do what they want. Back in the day I used to argue and quickly found out that does more harm than good.

However, I am curious about this: If killing pally's is evil, why don't we get alignment shifts to good for killing demons/devils? I have no issues with alignment shifts, but I'd appreciate some sort of consistency.

Demons and devils cause problems for everyone regardless of their moral alignment. Even the most evil of villains can have a logical reason for killing a fiend. However, no good person can have a logical reason for killing another good person. And most neutral people would have no reason to kill good people either.
