That's some nice research. Does it have any equivalence outside of the online environ?Cadence,Jan 16 2017 wrote: Though I usually play human males, whenever I play a female, IÂ’m quite struck by how easy it is to fit in and find positive reinforcement for just about any kind of personality I adopt.

To be fair I tend to connect better with female characters I play rather then male characters on an emotional level...and besides, I just really love my character.

I just have to ask, did some sort of Social server move residence over to Sigil? Normally this wouldn't bother me to much, but if I had to read another post about someone being a futa, or trying to subtlety imply they have a penis, I'm going to slash my wrists.
I'm all down for people doing the naughty or whatever, but... Oh my jeezus.

Hard to say- the evidence I'm providing is anecdotal and based exclusively on online interactions.Huelander,Jan 16 2017 wrote:That's some nice research. With that said, IRL there are differences in how the sexes are received - with undoubtably a basis in culture and likely a basis in innate biology.

Isn't there already a permit for that? :PHydra,Jan 15 2017 wrote: The takers need to introduce a new tax to fine women who are dressed and acting like jink skirts but without the permit :P

I've noticed that having a disrupting behavior as a female leads you to get noticed easily and helped by both sexes while playing a male or any "ugly" race leads you to a typical negative reaction and dismissal with people (when in group) not even trying to figure out what is it wrong about you unless you approach the subject with a one-one conversation and few distractions.
However, playing a female that is noticeably unpredictable and disrupting and doesn't want to conform to said norms lead the similar reaction in the long run, but it usually takes some efforts and time (I managed to do it with several characters from multiple angles).
That leaves me to think that the norm is to be pretty, engaging and conversational in a game that rewards social interactions, thus playing a woman makes sense and is also optimal in regard to the context but it also reinforce this norm.

There's always room for new taxes :Pwrote:Isn't there already a permit for that? :PHydra,Jan 15 2017 wrote: The takers need to introduce a new tax to fine women who are dressed and acting like jink skirts but without the permit :P

99.9% of the time I play males, I always have, and I've always had to deal with the things mentioned. *Shrug.* I just feel more connected to playing a male char and I feel I have more fun with them, even if sometimes they're barely regarded by anyone because they're male.

Pretty much. Which sometimes I don't mind. I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy the occasional strange ERP. But sometimes it feels like the server is a social server or something.
