The Nexus Of Dreams

Searing bolts of green electricity began to crackle along worn bones as the kaisharga gathered it's power, tattered robes flapping in a ghostly wind. There was no answer coming from the dead thing; it had laid out what would happen if an accord was refused. The theft and ruin of one of the Athar's brightest sons by the cult would be avenged by it's ancient hand...

Altair groaned, making a token effort to get the sludge out of his fur before resigning himself to his terrible fate. "Ugh. Wot a bloody mess this is. 'Course it 'ad t' be bloody ooze, dinnit? Look c'n we jes' get on wivvit? Let's leave th' fightin' t' th' ovver berks. I'm jes' keen on gettin' this done."

He looked between the lich and the mages wearily. While he'd periodically seen the Lich about, it had kept mostly to itself, and he didn't recall any trouble attached to it at the moment. It peaked his curiosity, but other than that the help wouldn't go unappreciated.

Dace nods slieghtly at the lich's response. "...then we will need your -real- name Vizier, if we're to pull you out of the nightmare defenses once one of us breaks through into the Nexus. Doubt your dream log will just have your title..."

He turns to approach Quinn and Argent, speaking in a slightly lowered voice. "Kruphai and his thralls are far more of a threat than some lich you've managed to live alongside for the last year and a half. You three need to have at it, do it after the multiverse threatening deity is out of the way. " He glances at the portal behind the group. "Right now, we -do- need all the help we can get, even if it looks like a rotting prune...."

He did not answer my question, so I suggest you consider what it's motivations are

-The elf gives a menacing glare, before stepping behind Quinn and fading from sight. First the shadowy shape, then the outline where he once was, and the sapphire eyes last, bending light and time to his whim. A discordant echo is lofted several paces ahead-

Going scout ahead.

It was a testamant to how dire the situation had become that the the Vizier uttered it's old name without any hesitation. "KAROAMUT-MIMUT."The Athasian tongue sounded jagged and gutteral, alien to the ears of those from other worlds. After speaking this for the first time since it's Becoming so long ago, it followed behind Dace silently.

Giving the undead one more sour look, he relents, shifting his focus to Dace then down toward the ritual site. "Very well Dace...I will trust your judgement."

Slowly the irritable mage begins trudging onward through the sludge. The pitch and hum of power altering as his anger turns it's focus to the site below, an empowering algorithm being built into the spell patterns swirling in his mind.

Dace nods to both mages. As Quinn and Argent head towards the portal, he gestures for Vyse, Altair and the lich to follow.
"Last time we were in, Altair and I slipped past the nightmares when we went to "sleep" in our dreams. At least until we wrote each other out completely." He grimaces as he trudges through the muck. "Not to say you just doze off if somethings trying to stab you... don't know what happens if we die in those nightmares, and I don't think we should find out. Just....when you come to past that portal, try to remember who we're in for, and try to find a safe place for a nap. First one to the library writes the rest out." He looks to Altair. "Sound about right?"

The blue portal over the altar glimmers invitingly. As the party draws closer, you all hear very faint indistinct whispers emanating from it.

Altair gave Dace's plan a distracted nod. He looked around with a scowl, sniffing at various pieces of the ritual set up. The fur on the back of his neck rose slightly, and he growled under his breath. "I don' like this. Noberk's 'ere, but th' portal's open. ...They know we're comin'." A racking cough forced him to pause, and he cleared his throat violently. "Mmmph. Bloody black moon hangin' over this pikin' portal, there is."

Cautiously he slinked closer towards the portal, leaning in to see if he could make out the whisperings. "Oi, wot's it sayin'? ...Soddin' 'ell, we need t' get on wivvit b'fore me nerves go all jellywobbles."

"its not the first site we've found after the cults moved on Altair." Dace tried to assure the werewolf, despite his own misgivings. He grimaced as the whispers reach his ears, then scowled. "Sounds like its saying we're on track."

Eyes back on the portal, he felt.... small. Like he did the first time he looked on a portal to the lower planes, seemingly ages past, before any training. Before he had any weapons, or any knowledge of the multiverse. He suddenly felt as dwarfed and powerless as he did when he was just some unfortunate farm boy who read the wrong book.

His hand reached for and gripped a small cloth. Sasha's "favour" , such as it was. The softness of the fabric, the weight of Clam Aisling hanging off his belt in its scabbard, even the now dried blood marks streaked across his forehead all serving as reminders that- feelings of dread aside- this wasn't like those first days at all.

Now he had the weapons, the power, and most importantly, the friends to face the enemy alongside.

With clenched fists and a deep breath, he jumped into the dreadful portal, bracing for what lay ahead.
