BeZ was not 'dumb' it was 'sentient' and yes it could speak, after a fashion. Gol had given it power when it reanimated the dusty bones and not just to walk or fight for him. Alot more. There was memory retained in its bones, so Gol said and BeZ held more memory in them as it learned anew, listening to the battle tactic teaching of its Master. After more thought, BeZ spoke three or four words in another tongue it realised it was famliar with and could recall, but this went unnoticed as Khazeet's bar filled up with custom.
It used its knowing to ensure that it made fairer deal with the alchemist Tald, the one who had shown it a glowing trophy engraved with his credentials of expertise and had answered the skeleton's notice. Two hundred per day not four, expectant to be three days of work, the skeleton to pay for metals and compound materials in the research. The payment it may get from the Sensate yuan-ti would go towards this work. BeZ's handbones rattled as it shook the fleshy protrudence that was Tald's hand.
Bone to metal, not metal to its bones as Master Gol had presumed. Though that was not a bad idea in its own right. BeZ lifted its arm for inspection by its mage 'fan' upon the instruction of Gol, the quizzical mage did not poke or prod or hug or get physical so as to risk dislodging its collection stuffed in its ribcage, so BeZ did not mind.
