Are you having trouble finding people to play with? Joining events and the like seems to depend on how people go about trying to get involved in character.
Ah well if you could put me in contact with these players I'd appreciate it perhaps they could teach me a thing or two about being new to a server. I have attempted to join in events IC, walking up, asking to help, etc. The response is usually being ignored (prob due to too much text on the screen) or being dismissed.

Perhaps it is my character though it seemed right up their alley. Who knows? But I've had quite a few discussions IG with players -new and old- who claim to have put effort in with no return. Of course I don't know about the validity but as a new player I'm just bringing up things I feel might need to be cleared up :)

There's nothing wrong with wanting to play exclusively with a small group of people of course. Though it is a shame when EM time for others suffers in favor of one group, no matter what server or where.

This this this this. Please do not take this the wrogn way. This is not supposed to be taken as an insult to the EM/DM staff but, as was said, an observation - something to be acknowledged and perhaps worked on rather than swept under the rug, getting emotional over, etc.

Thank you for understanding. This is a phenomenon not unique to Sigil. Just a nwn2 thing. I enjoy the server a lot. I can enjoy my self without an EM. The main thing I wish for is to simply feel included which has been difficult. Though The lone wolf RP isn't bad hehe.

EMs/DMs are not required to answer to requests. its left to the Ems and Dms to choose what they are willing to run. Trust me, If they did not, they soon get over run with requests and burned out. Just like we cant demand the developers to work on our favorite races or classes. They choose their projects so they can enjoy them.

As EM Lyrium, my doors are open to player requests and events. Please send me a tell if you would like to organised something. Initiative goes a long way, but I will also try to pick up on things I hear or see about. Currently, I am working with a new player whom has taken it upon him/herself to organize a trip to Toril. You do not have to be my 'friend' to take advantage of this, despite the point you seem to be arguing. Of course, I can only speak for myself and not on behalf of other EM/DMs on the server whom might behave differently.

As a player, my main character has a lot of IC trust issues, thus when things aren't shared largely with strangers it's not a personal attack. I think this should be kept in mind - a lot of the time people aren't deliberately snubbing one another. It's common fact that you're not going to spill your life story, or share the most intricate threatening details of day-to-day activities with a complete stranger. That being said, even with all my character's connections and the effort I put in, there are events and such that I struggle to find a way to integrate into (including the fey event) and that just happens. Sometimes it's the natural flow of things, IC.

Yes. And like I said in my very first post the best option would be to have a friend become an EM or become one your self to run events for your friends. The DMs will pick and choose the events they want to run (likely for their friends). So this is a good option I think.

I don't really have anything to input in this discussion that hasn't been said already, so I'll just leave this here from... a while ago. Many suggestions were made, but there haven't been any notable changes.

Really, I think there needs to be some effort made so that the whole server starts talking about it. Take the whole Psions being knocked out/fainting deal. Everyone in Sigil at the time knew about that. It was the talk of Khazeet's for like 3 days. It even opened up some stuff about a few PCs that other PCs didn't know. (Hi, Rainrix!) Get the server involved, not just a few people who get attacked here and there. Attack Khazeet's or something. Idk.

Edit: Maybe have a day or two where anyone entering certain (common) areas, like the Lady's Ward or the Clerk's Ward or the Hive gets attacked by Fey. Make the Fey not so tough that lower levels can't handle them, but it would be one of those emergency events that makes everyone take notice.
"I was attacked by Fey in the Hive!"
"Oi, I got attacked in the Lady's Ward, cutter!"
"Truly? I was assaulted in the Clerk's Ward!"
"THERE *points to Fey PC* is a Fey right now."

Wait ... if she needs 10,000 for a divine rank and already has 50,000 then doesn't she have 5 divine ranks already?

Maybe that's why she stopped attacking. Tho I'm certain there are much easier places to get souls than Sigil, like many defenseless prime worlds.

I'm not sure any factions would ally with this. It doesn't exactly seem water tight, lets be honest. It seems like Doomguard already kinda got set up for defeat recently, I'm not sure they'll easily walk into another obvious pickle.

As far as I know there's already another ascend to godhood plot going on too. Wasn't there also a third godhood plot not long before the fey one?

I think lifting the ban of "you'll never fight a pitfiend" might make for a better event than god killing. Just my 2 jinkies. =)

Oh .... and the real question that really needs an answer is .... is this plot still active or going anywhere? or are people getting upset and chasing tails or wild geese over nothing?

The bazaar has been attacked a multitiude of times by the same forces. You all are asking for things thats either been said someplace or happened over and over already. The memory does not stay long because speed of plot though. (as it maybe a month before another action is taken).

A lot of players (or pcs) Have dropped out, did not find it interesting, could not invest into it or other reasons (so we cant force this on everyone thats not involved or dont want to).

Ie ems and dms cant just drop monsters on you without some announcement that allows players to opt out when they desire to.

Only things I can suggest to keep a plot afloat is to include some level of permanence to it.

The frozen waterfall is an example of this, but it need not always be a mechanical update, merely a plot one. Some sort of semi-static condition imposed upon the realm by events. It can be RP'ed as such.

An example of this may be what I had been doing with my bleaker plots. Where certain wards and even factions were effected by temporary bouts of melancholy. Now, many players ignored these, others expected to move the plot with one PM to me (rather than inclusion activation of other players), and then others played it out over a period of months.

Of course for something like this to work, DM's need to serve up a plot arch, and PLAYERS need to keep it going. Groups of players interested in keeping up a DM plot may want to open an OOC dialogue to do so.

Another idea to facilitate this, is to envisage a plot unfolding as a series of events and decisions and their consequences. This is a great way to make better use of factions.

I.e.

1. A state of affairs grips the city.

2. players in factions RP for a week or few on how to respond to this state of events.

3. The players intentions are taken into account, and given weight according to how many players are behind it.

4. The players intentions are taken into account and force a new state of affairs.

5. Rinse and repeat.

If pulled off, such a recipe can make for ongoing server events, rather than one of plots and a return to a static environment. But PLAYERS have to do their part too. DM's can't just be expected to dance.

Come at me! *ninja noises*

But in all seriousness, I would like to clarify a few things.

No, 15-20 people were not present for the Krynn event. It was one of the special events where a shout was not offered, so the people that were there for it was smaller than what you would expect from an event where a shout was offered. At most there was 10, and they were carefully selected people chosen by Aleis, Argent, and Dace. I think the only person who was in attendance who got in by being on at the right time was because they were a Mercykiller.

There are other events, like the attack in the bazaar the other day where living spells were used to attack and destroy as much property as possible. Strawberry brought up a good point about whether or not these methods were something that a fey should be doing, and she's right, but there's a bigger picture here that isn't immediately obvious to everyone. In this case, it was the Shadow Fey disguising themselves as members of the Spring Court causing mayhem to try to drive a wedge between the Seelie and the rest of Sigil. It's just easier to say "there was an attack", because explaining takes time and effort, and for the most part that's all anyone is going to care about anyways.

To answer the questions "What do they even want with Sigil" and "What are they even fighting about" is going to take a lot of explaining, too. But a short summary would go along the lines of: in the past there have been artifacts and other fun things within Sigil that they were looking for. What exactly the fight is about usually is specific to a particular event, like when shadow fey dominated several Triad members and arrested Aleis and Dace (and were going to do the same for a bunch of other people, but they were the only ones online) in an attempt to publicly execute them on the grounds of 'treason' so that they wouldn't be a threat to them anymore. Things didn't go according to their plans, of course, so Aleis and Dace ended up having to fight off the dominated triad members, shadow fey, and the odd PC that either got dominated themselves or tried to oppose them.
Overall, though, the motivations of specific NPCs are usually rather straightforward: The Pale Prince rightfully despises mortals after one stole his love from him (and let's face it, Fey aren't typically very thrilled with mortals to begin with), and so his goal is to eliminate every mortal from the multiverse. Previously this was to be through creating an eternal winter but after Aleis spoiled that plan he's since moved onto an as of yet unknown plan that has also allowed him to gain the allegiance of the rest of the Winter Court.
The Raven Queen seeks power, and souls are power. In many ways she is already at least a demi-power, but the neat thing about allied with someone who wants to eliminate all mortal life from the multiverse means that their souls have to go somewhere... and she's happy to be the beneficiary of them.

As you can imagine, at this point trying to explain the full story to someone is rather exhaustive and it's almost impossible to do so without leaving things out. Aleis still does try to do so on occasion, but usually gets interrupted by people when she does it in the Bazaar.
