A player already has to stand the sexual allusions - written, graphical etc. - made during common (thus public) roleplay, and they're not rare, I tell you, due to the pardon for the private ones. Most of them are perfectly ignorable, but some can be quite persistent, because: if you give a depressed person a hemp rope, soon she will be tempted to use it rather than hanging it to the ceiling alone.

Any explicit porn source is better, for that particular person being tied to that particular slavery, than a well white-painted game where it seems normal to her to do that for her own entertainment.

And, for the sake of words' meaning, allowing sexual "roleplay" in a role playing game like D&D (and not, namely, some others which provide for that intent directly) is not "illegal" by literal preamble, but for an undebatable axiom - under penalty of making the server a receptacle for any kind of perverted bum - it's misbecoming, to be gentle.

You now know perfectly what's my thought about it.
I'll continue playing as I did before, ignoring as much as possible the kind of people mentioned above. Nothing personal, I'm stern with friends of mine on this matter, at the point of not taking their jokes when they exceed, I am even more stern with perfect strangers.

I forgot: I hope a 14 year old never connects to this server, because if she'll have the disgrace of meeting one of those delightful pederasts, her life will be ruined for a long time, and moral responsibilities will be distributed to many, until then, maybe clean consciences.

Now sorry, I'm ejecting from this topic AFAS (as fast as shit).

The high-horse projection of 'morality' in this thread is amazing.

[Edit for clarification: I do not condone underage sexual content and... dragon yiffi is certainly not my cup of tea. I do think the 'preaching' can be taken down a notch, however. This is an 18+ server with 18+ content. Don't like it? No one is making you stay. Sigil is not Disneyland and we, as adults, should be mature enough to handle this. People engage in storytelling in different ways and means, often through combination. It's not up to you or anyone else to judge this beyond the breaking of server rules. The latter? Report it to the DMs if you see it, otherwise I would suggest keeping the 'shaming' of 18+ content to yourself and allow others to play the game without persecution.]

Exactly, and we don't need to tell people "go watch porn" in order to "regulate" it. We're adults. No one ever forces one to engage in ERP. You dislike it? Don't ever engage in it. Everyone has the freedom to do things, provided it's not in public if it's sexual. Of course, the limit is on child ERP. "People should always be free, even to be stupid" is the saying. The DMs keep people from doing things that are too lewd -- like child ERP.

There are servers which prohibit all forms of ERP, SCoD is not one of them. However SCoD is not a hostile environment for people who wish to remain away from it, or PvP for that matter. That said, SCoD doesn't try to encourage ERP either, it allows it, but as the rules already state, keep it in private. What people will do with that privilege is up to them, we hope they practice it judiciously, but it is up to them. If you see people who are disinterested, it's better to let them be than try to entice them too much.

As for 14 year olds, unfortunately these days I don't think SCoD would have anything to do with it. I mean, have you seen the current 14 year olds? :P Trust me, with a near unlimited access to the internet, they're already well aware about topics their parents are wanting to avoid until they're at least 18 and ideally 25. The problem in there is that their parents are leaving all education to external sources instead of practising a good sense and controlling in what way they'd prefer the information to be out. Besides somehow I doubt a 14 year old (unless already very mature) would even enjoy their time in SCoD, SCoD isn't action paced place, but it is actually rather slow paced when it comes to narrative and gameplay. And no, I'm not saying that people should totally bang all the kids (as per rules, already prohibited! Just incase you missed it) but there needs to be some realism in what's already happening and not blame some niche backwater game server for ruined lives.

Ed Greenwood says "sex happens in D&D all the time"

Also what parent in their right mind waits until 25 to talk about sex with their child?

Good moralist solution turn everyone into modrons.

I didn't mean that they would, it's just a topic people feel very awkward of talking to others, especially if they happen to be their children. Hence the "are wanting to avoid..." part.

I think it's more common to give the sex ed talk and condoms before they're making babies they can't provide for, or maybe I just always lived in progressive areas.

Learning from parents has been going out of fashion for some time already, with the internet and casting more responsibilities for schools. More and more people are taking the system for granted and assume that paid professionals and curiosity does the job. And the whole "don't make babies until your age X" is kind of lackluster. Which is probably also why meaningful relationships are gradually decreasing while sexual relationships are increasing. I'm not saying that's bad, but if all you teach the kids is to not get kids or diseased in the process, well that's roughly what you're going to get.
