Haveing walked onto the bridge of the ship more or less unnoticed Vale suddenly Replies to Mash'es Question as if by Reflex.

Vale: Burning hot Cobblestone the Walls of Iron being just a hot not to mention the city ifself is floating on a lake of Lava, with the Iron Tower Rising from the Center of the City...

Realizing this might not be any of his buisness he quickly follows up.

Vale: ...My Apologies if i interupted anything important,
But there is a matter that i need ot speak with the Captain about in private.

Vale looks at Mir for a moment his expression stateing that it is important. Vale then Digs into his Belt pouch and pulls out three Lho sticks and places them on a nearby table along with a small wand that appears to be a sort of lighter.

Vale: A little something from me as a way of saying sorry for taking up your time *smiles and nods*

Upon finishing his brief encounter with the Captain, the First mate and the passenger, he then walks over to the Exit and leans against the wall casually observeing the Splendour of the Astral through the Illusionary Window all around the Bridge.

Kain fully understood why Mir wished his presence, after all, should anything happen he was the only one bound to survive, Mir knew this. Baator was certainly a dangerous enough place, even for Kain, and with passengers also, well she had assets that needed caring for should the unthinkable happen. Granted, throughout the trip he had not made his presence known, but he fully understood the danger Mir took every time she came close to Baator.

One might say that Kain took some form of 'personal enjoyment' out of lengthy trips to hostile planes, he appeared to enjoy the prospect of death creeping up on him, knowing he'd merely return, unscathed and alive. A cruel notion indeed, a man who looked willingly for death, but it appeased his curiousity and, for the better part, accompanying Mir on Alice was certainly a method of having a little 'fun'.

And so, he'd wait. Merely being a 'protector' of assets and Alice after all she was the only means of getting back short of a long trek through the hells which, as much as Kain would enjoy the idea of fighting his way back to Sigil, might not take the passengers fancy.

Trek to “Iron City”, Dis

For a while Mir left the helm and walked across the bridge to Vale, as long as nothing wholly unexpected happened, Alice could fly herself. She tapped Vale's shoulder to get his attention from sightseeing the Astral vistas.
  • “What's?”, was her quiet question, close to nigh audible at all.

Wine (and potential stowaways) is all well and good, but time is what drvies the engine of the multiverse, and between drinks, conversation, exploration, and sundry other things, three hours manages to pass quickly enough. The merchant stows the remainder of the wine and the tumblers, replacing them with a small, finely made looking glass, moving out onto the main deck as the third hour comes to a close, taking note of the ships bearings and giving a respectful nod at Mashanie's navigational skills.

"It would seem we're right where we're supposed to be, and..." Somehow, she manages to time a dramatic wave just as a massive red crack, looking as if the whole of existence were breaking apart, seems to appear in the Astral, directly in the path of the ship. Whorls of energy swirl about the portal, drawing the eye so much so that the return of Seethe's reptilian companion barely draws notice.

As minutes pass, the crack looms larger and larger, the ambient light of the astral turning reddish-orange and heat, not uncomfortable but very noticable, emanating from the breach. Finally, the ship's prow touches the edge of the crack... and suddenly it seems as if existence is both stretched and compressed, a disconcerting sensation for one not used to portal travel, and a considerably greater sensation than stepping through a Sigilian portal; perhaps this comes from its massive size, or perhaps something done by the Lady and her Dabus make those portals more stable. Regardless of reason, the sensation combines with a feeling of time slowing... but it only lasts for seconds, before everything changes, the ship emerging into an existence with crimson skies, a black waste of crumbling pumice hillocks crossed by channels of turgidly flowing lavel lying nearly a mile beneath the ship stretching to every distant horizon.

And noise. Perhaps half a mile in front of the spelljammer, a small city that seems to be on metal legs crawls across the surface, a constant stream of figures seeming to flow into the sky from atop balconies high above the city's base, up to high within the sky where they seem to be doing battle with a fleet of nimble skyships which seem vaguely reminiscient of spiders, magic and ranged weaponry creating crashes and booms across the distance.

Of course, that becomes of little note as several shadows skitter across the form of the jammer and its companion vessel, a massive form hurtling from above to land heavily on the deck, insectile mandibles clacking and waves of magical confusion blasting out from its form as it rises, cabalistic sigils painted on its carapace as it towers over the form of Seethe, who has somehow managed to draw a long dagger that seems woefully inadequate against such a being.

"Ware the hulks!" A booming voice is heard as a form equal in size dashes across the deck, the head of the massive warmace swung two-handed by B'groff slamming into the umber hulk's torso with an impact that sounds like a shattering boulder, literally lifting it from the deck in an explosion of chitin and sending it hurtling over the side, only to watch as five more of the beasts drop from the arachnid-shaped vessels above, and still another plummeting onto the Shade. A chittering voice unseen above calls out in a strange tongue, seemingly magnified by some mechanical device, as the garishly painted beasts close in on the spelljammer's crew.

[ And action begins, so I'll trust you all to use a die-rolling utility for a will save and tell the truth if your overall roll is below 18. Approximately half of the "normal" crew will be affected by the gaze. Also lore checks from anyone who thinks they have sufficiently high enough to recognize either the winged figures flying up from below, or the language spoken by whoever is on the ship above. Please hold off on choosing combat action until my next post, thank you! -Cere ]

As promised Carimalis Gree returns with numerous golems in tow and delivers the payment along with a 25% bonus for the hazard. She thanks the propietors for their service and immediately has the golems unload the precious cargo into specially constructed bags of holding.

After several hours of labor, the golems finish the job and once again Carimalis thanks the owners and departs.. another satisfied customer!

Mir, Mash, and Vale shrug off the power of the Umber Hulks' gaze, wondering about the source of the ships above, but the same cannot be said of the entirety of the crew, several of whom stagger drunkenly from the confusion effect. Even as the unaffected rush to the rescue, three of the beasts skittle towards stunned crewmen, the others screening their actions, and gather the insensate victims up in their arms. Almost within an instant, a faint whirring sound is heard, and the five hulks are literally jerkes from the deck, the motion revealing their connection via chitin hooks seemingly grown upon the backs of their carapaces, to thin, nearly invisible lines which begin to reel them (as well as the cracked-shell beast which bore the brunt of B'groff's strike) up towards the receding ship.

Nearly at the same time, a massive green-tinged, four-armed winged form lands on the gunwale opposite the invading ship, one of the many soaring up from below and, to the knowledgable eyes of the three champions of Sigil, obviously a Nycaloth.

It lets out a cry in the dark language of the Yugoloths, its attention fixed on the spider-shaped ship, and with a loud pop four others of its race teleport into place below the enemy ship, sword sharp claws cutting through the lines as they fly past. Two of the sailor-laden Yugoloths slam into the deck, hopefully not hard enough to kill their captives, while the other kidnapper (with human cargo in hand) and the unladened others plummet past the ship, dwindling in their mile-long fall towards the ground. The leader of the Nycaloths leaps from the rail, leaving those on the jammer to deal with their own recurring umber hulk problem, causing the spelljammer to lurch slightly, before it and its companions fly above the attacking ship's rail, vanishing from sight amidst a cacaphony of roars and chittering noises from the speaking-device.

So now: two umber hulks aboard the ship, while the other, unidentified ship flies above, approximately 50 meters up and to the side, with a group of Nycaloths battling unknown attackers above. Players, your move. XD
