The Awakened
Slightly smiling I gazed the colossal structure which was parked above my home. Every inch of it familiar but yet also new - new in a way that the memory of it had been buried oh so very long...
Like a Rock in the Wind
Its “slumber” had been a long one, from certain perspectives at least. Or maybe a more proper term would've been “stand-by” instead? Not that such debate meant anything to Hjyng though. Even if it had just sat still through the centuries under the face of Anauroch, its mind had not – it continued to perfect its own functions and formulas, modifying even its own parameters, mind and thought models to better accommodate the results; doing just what it was intended to do, and thereby to become even better in doing so...
What the Ghml, for that is what Hjyng was, truly thought though while its massive, majestic and dark form – form that of a “twin cathedral”, the other upside down, the other upright – hovered above the marble house at Karasuthra was known only to itself at the moment. Mainly it waited, and thought, and waited – like it always did... ever patient.

Me, Myself, and I
Thinking of Modrons brings up odd things, and of the oddest was probably a little venture to Hall of Records to find out when their last march had been, and then the little run around – trying to get an answer from a duodrone... Pesky little thing kept ignoring us until Ymerion snared it with a lasso. The answer sent us searching for a bit more information...
… and from the information found, of which much was completely unrelated, I got an idea to build a little helper, “Hobbles”. A quiet fellow that, but I grew fond of it the moment me and my “other self” got it operational. If nothing else, he's an awesome butler and a walking notebook.
But now, sitting on a velvet couch in the quiet of Hjyng in the perpetual soft darkness of it, I wonder. And yet I don't; there is an unprecedented calmness all around me. I thought that meeting myself would've been different – knowing myself, maybe violent – but now, as we sit here, snuggled like sisters, both thinking something – both probably the same or then not – it all feels almost like “this is how it was supposed to be”, in a way. She knows she's an unnatural creation though, just like I know, but whatever the means were that Mythal brought her to life, they don't matter – she's me, or part of me, that complements me in an equal but yet different way than my love, Mashanie, does.
We watch... Hjyng makes its art, spins the stars with a soft song for us to observe. It waits, waits for its function... to explore, to learn, and to remember.

Batting It
- “Mir! Mir!”, squealed Tinard with its batty ultrasonics throughout Hjyng.
- “Oh, there you are...”, Tinard replied and fluttered a moment later to sit down on a table in front of me.
- “Here we are ...”, I smirked.
- “What crazyness you're on about now?”, it questioned.
- “Huh. Whatever you mean?”, both me and my 'other self' asked back.
- “There's some drow and an elf flying all around Hjyng with Shade. I'm not quite certain they're exactly in control of the craft”, Tinard stated.

Ideas Splicing, Mechanics Quantum
Hjyng had made its calculations long ago, and it could've shown the results to the two Sava'ii straight away, but it knew, just like they did, that they wanted to see the process itself behind the intricate mathematics. And thus it showed them what they wanted to see, a web of light throbbing in sync with the parameters given, expanding, retracting, twisting, and finally forming something what even a mundane observer could've understood to an extent – a map woven of light and dark, a map showing both planar conjunctions and positions of concrete points of interest, a map of Realmspace and all what was aligned with it at the moment. Although, to a mundane observer the infinitely complex web would've been just a piece of art, not so much something what actually represented anything. But to the two Mirs, it was not mere art, for Hjyng spoke to them in the visual language of its creators, the ancestors of the duo.
So it was settled, a course plotted with majority of even unexpected events calculated in forming it. And the course span far beyond Phlogiston, the Flow of Realmspace. If they had given the numbers related to the distance to anyone, it'd taken a wild stretch of imagination to even think of what the number represented. For a 'jammer, if one could travel such space and distance, it would've taken a millennia, a dozen of them, or more. It didn't bother the duo however.
Hjyng settled down to ponder other dilemmas while showing the duo results of his brainstorming...

A Constellation of Doubt
What is and when. Why? There is no definite answer to tell what is when, or when is why, or what is why... It all shifts – when you get the “when”, you lose the “why” and “what”, each three functions inaccessible from the other... That is the nature of existence, no? Priests fight in vain to try combine the trio like spiritual alchemists, but yet their work is moot – they, nor their gods, never attain the answer, if there even is one... Wizards try make sense of it all and get a headache. But what is the most important question of the trio is “why” - “when” and “what” are completely irrelevant, right? It is poetry of synchrony, harmony of chaotic symphony, untold cacophony of possibilities unfolding...

Turbo Lift to the Heavens? No!
I hummed a merry tune while wading through the grasses and brush that composed most of the landscape, gradually approaching home. Atop the roof of our home was my “other half”, swinging her legs idly, smirking, and then leaping down to welcome me and Mashanie, to hug me half dead at that.
Things were not that simple however and we ascended to Hjyng, and being led by my other self went to meet with Hjyng itself... I probably had been in the room a number of times, or then not – I had no recollection of it for a great portion of my memories were carried by my other self.
Hjyng was not terribly pleased upon hearing our dilemma. But being as logical and calculating as ever, after hearing our problem, and our desire, Hjyng saw the result – one of us had to give up their physical form and to be the dominant sentience. It was an odd situation to say in the least – staring my other, pondering whether she or I was the one to be. Then, however, my other yielded – she had been the one so strangely awakened and separated from our unity. Not that her being part of me would be much different than what it had been before, no, except for the fact that I'd remember all what she had guarded so jealous....
Â… but the decision of mine, her, and our, was just the beginning of a strange journey.

- “The Chosen of Mystra is rising to power again!”, she laughed.
- “What's going on?”, I inquired, seeing her wings slouching, a handful of feathers falling as she shrugged them.
- “It's that noticeable?”, she asked hushed and glanced away from me.
- “Nuh uh, or then I have just sharper eyes than before”, I replied somewhat worried.
- “This body is spent, dying. I overestimated my powers”, she noted duly.
- “That's not a good thing, no”, I muttered.
- “No, it isn't”, she sighed.

The Joining #1
Me and my Other(* ascended to Hjyng, and led by her we ventured to parts of it I didn't recall having visited – not that I had seen majority of its insides anyway, having spent most of my time in and near the “control nexus” of Hjyng during our travels in the past.
We stopped next to a duo of large doors briefly, which Other then opened by pressing her hand in the middle. For a moment we were dazed by the rather bright blue light at the other side, a sharp contrast to the perpetual cozy “night” of all the other parts of Hjyng.
The walls were lined with softly pulsing tubes, pipes, conduits, carrying self-luminous blue liquid to and from the central crystal chamber in which idly floated the very core of Hjyng, the vast brain of a creature long ago defeated but yet also befriended for an eternity to come or longer.
Right then I didn't yet remember all that per say, but I sensed its ageless, comforting presence and pressed my hand on thick crystalline wall, smiling, greeting it fondly – and it returned the greeting in form of a myriad little lights dancing through the air, talking to me in my native language, one which no one else besides me knew in Sigil(**.
We discussed a bit of this and that, seated, and then finally came upon the reason why we came to meet Hjyng in person and not through mere senses of it.
/// *) not to be confused with the alternate(s) which arrive(d) due the dimensional rifting.
/// **) not even Hashkar.

We woke, standing, on mountainside, somewhere... and then in a rush it came to me – we stood on the very grounds of my home world! The how and why eluded me, for a while just gazing across the landscape in amazement. But then the Other shook me back to reality with her voice.
Without further ado the Other produced a shimmering blade from thin air, urging me to form my own. This was all in our minds, and yet not quite so, for we had to defeat the ancient creature yet again to accomplish what task was ahead – to repeat how it was done in the past...

- “We need your help. She's dying”, was my statement.
- “I cannot prolong the life of that body any longer, it is drained far beyond repair”, Hjyng mused after a moment, somewhat sad about it.
- “No need to. She wants back, and I want her back alike”, I said shaking my head.
- “I see. That I can do... Relax, it'll take just a moment”, Hjyng replied.

- “Why here? Why you brought us here?!”, she shrieked into the wind.
- “What? I didn't bring us here”, I said with brows quirking at her.
- “Not you. Hjyng”, she replied frowning.

Other Things
Nights, they fall. Daggers, rain. What is this madness, and more so, why? Back in the days when I didn't recall the past, life was pristine, primordial in ways... easy. But now, the weight of a dozen millenia? Ah, no matter. Time passes. The mortals come and go. It's no concern to me – I observe, as always. But then again, there is things which lock me into the generic stream – people, those I care for. Why? Why and how can they have such an impact on me? Tho as it is, the ones I truly care for, I can immortalize... remember their thoughts, their very being, and in that, they live on even if their shells fail. But I cannot stop to wonder tho … the core reason – the “why” of all it.

A Number of Worlds Later
Back in Sigil again, and like A'ma says, “some things never change.” But some do – I see more unfamiliar faces than I see familiar ones. How long were we away? I don't know, nor does it matter really, not to me.
Tapping to the veins of the city I begun to measure its pulse again, to gauge and to observe. Some things never change – people in general; the callous arrogance of many, the clueless detachment from reality of even larger number of them, and the sordid decadence in general... It never ceases to amuse me though, the petty and vain egos...
