Mash is baffled for a minute, as the hulking winged creatures aid them, before swarming off to attack the enemy above, but turns his attention to the immeadiate danger first. He leaps towards one of the hulk, melding into the shadows around them, and swiftly aims for the weak spots on the monster, between the meeting points of the carapace. (HiPS & Expose Weakness)

//Actually, my first idea was to let Vale handle the Hulks, and Disjunct the enemy Jammer, but not really knowing any rules whether it would affect the helm at all.

Cursing in a number of languages, and in couple not yet invented ones, Mir barks a couple orders as she glances across the railing after the plummeting creatures.
  • "Anchors! Two! Aim them bloody things to that falling sod-of-a-hulk who has our men along!"
Not really waiting for acknowledgement from anyone, nor to the situation at mid-deck, she leaps to one of the four anchor launchers - things akin to rather large harpoon guns - to do herself what she just told someone else(s) to do. Anchor launcher... not exactly intended by design to function as a weapon, nor a rescue tool to that matter, but accurate enough to have at least a chance at such.

(( I was going to wait for Biohazard, but I guess Vale's just going to be lumped in with the crew below ))

The umber hulks on the ship are already injured, cracks spreading over their carapaces as they woozily rise to their feet, those who had carried crewmen ignoring their former captives. In this state, one is hardly a match for Mashanie, who easily slices away limbs from his opponent and leaves it motionless on the deck in less than a minute of battle.

Even the others are overwhelmed, gangs of sailors wielding gaffhooks and swung tackle herding them to and over the rails. Soon enough, the deck of the jammer is clear of monsters, those among the crew with a modicum of healing skill tending to their unconscious mates.

Mir's desperate shot ((die roll with non-proficient weapon and beyond normal range: 4 )) misses the receding figure of the falling hulk, and it is the size of a dot when it strikes the ground, both the elemental monster and its captive surely quite dead from a mile-long fall.

Above, the battle on the ships continues, yugoloths teleporting into place above the ship and diving at it, occasionally sending many-limbed creatures to plummet through the sky, although just as often a Nycaloth crackles with electricity or lifts its four hands to grip at its head screaming; both tend to result in a lifeless 'loth body hurtling towards the ground.

After but a few minutes, it seems the invaders have had enough, the spidery ships making their way towards the same rift the jammer came through and vanishing, although several of the vessels list slightly or vent smoke. Still, their disappearance would seem to be victory for the winged Yugoloths, most of whom wing back down to the town below, which at this point is quite definitely walking upon its metal legs. All but the commander, who resettles on the rail while two others hover in the air behind them.

Words dripping with darkness roll off its tongue, unintelligible to any within hearing... that is, almost any, judging by the cultured female voice sounding from across the deck. "He says to put your weapons down, and give thanks that one of yours was slain by the invaders. Otherwise he would think we were in league with the Neogi, and though to make slaves of, in his words, the 'Great Race of the Lowers.'" As eyes turn towards Seethe, she smirks and gestures towards the Nycaloth. "Speak to the Master of Battles, my friends. He may not speak your tongue, but be certain he will understand your words."

The battle is over, a new foe vanquished and the possibility opening for powerful allies or deadly enemies. Let the RP begin!

(( I think i know a fix for this since i just saw the post today ))

Vale emerges from a rope hanging over the railing of the ship covered in gore from one of the umberhulks, he moments before sent crashing over the railing with a solid blow to the chest. The Hulk managed to grab a hold of his foot before falling over the railing dragging him with it.

But by a spur of luck a broken lifeline rope was hanging within reach, but now struggling with the badly injured umberhulk hanging from his foot Vale desperately kicked at its hand which in the end paid off as it lose its grip and fell off him.

Vale Crawls onto the deck and rolls onto his back trying to catch his breath again.

Vale: Damn...that Berk was heavy...

Vale struggles to his feet only to be met by the sight of a Nycaloth which he quickly walks backwards over by Mir and Mash

Vale: Mir..what did i miss are we in more trouble?...

He may have been obnoxious and rash at times, but he was certainly no fool. He sheathed his blade, and commanded the rest of the crew to do the same. He then inclined his head respectfully, glancing at the one designated as the Master of Battles.

- We thank you and your capable troops for your considerate decision of not annihilating us without further inquiry. Our ship indeed was not in league with the assailants. But of our origins and purpose, I leave the explanation to our captain.

He silenced then, waiting for Mir to take the word. But he did remember Seethe's words from when they cast off, and ordered Hobbles to fetch the banner from Mir's quarters, should it be needed to let them pass the patrol unharmed.

Mir hadn't a weapon at hand to begin with, and with otherwise blank expression aside of a brow quirking her gaze studied the Nycaloth briefly, then slightly nodding
  • "Well met, Master of Battles. Pardon me that I'm not much a diplomat and thus not boring you with pretty words that carry no meaning. That said, first time ever that I'm glad to get unexpected visitors midflight - welcome aboard."
She throws a glance to whatever remains of the hulks, and with a hand sign ((rogues' Cant)) motions to one of the crew members to take the carcass(es) apart and save the armored bits for later, returning her eyes back to the Master of Battles.
  • "Coming from Sigil, if that is of interest to you, delivering cargo to ...", she says and briefly points toward the racket making city, "... there."

At Mir's words, the Nycaloth tilts its head, growling out another sentence in its dark language, which Seethe quickly translates, despite a faintly quizzical expression that seems to question what Mir's intentions are.

"Traders are welcome to Outpost Wrath, planewalkers. But you will be warned, taking advantage of our lenience will result in all our powers being leveled against you. We will not allow a repeat of the neogi's ploy, feigning commerce and raiding our larval stores. A way will be prepared." A clawed finger points down towards the nearing city's edge, a balcony-topped tower at its edge seeming to have the necessary implements to moor a flying ship. "And Overlord Wrath will wish to speak to you. Come, then."

What words he wished said evidently complete, the yugoloth falls back from the rail, he and his escort winging towards the city.

In the silence following his departure, Seethe's voice rings out, the massive form of B'groff moving next to her. "You Sigilians... it amazes me how you always manage to stumble into the corridors of power. All I can say is prepare yourselves, and warn your crew to behave well."

A wry smile quirks her lips as she heads towards her cabin to change into something fresh. "For tonight, we dine with an Ultraloth."

  • "Ay... the crew will behave as long as they hosts do", Mir mutters after a while their visitors have disappeared from sight, "This oughta be unusual".
Toward what was pointed, Mir orders the ship to proceed at a steady pace - not too rushed and yet not too slow. She had no idea of what to expect, but she had no intention to dive in like a hungry dog nor to dawdle like a pompous snot.
  • "And, no idea, Vale", Mir finally replies to Vale after their unexpected visitors are gone, "We might, or might not, be in trouble. Stay sharp."

A few minutes' leisurely flight, and the jammer manages to dock with one of the many towers. Securing the ship is a challenge, however, as up close it's quite obvious the small city, perhaps half the size of the Market Ward in Sigil, is walking along the Gehennan ground on metal legs shaped much like those of a scorpion, its constant movement causing it to pull the ship after it.

As the normal crewmembers, not quite used to this sort of thing and trepidatious after losing one of their own, set to normal tasks such as checking the stowage and removing bits of umber hulk carapace from the hull, what look to be either an honor guard or a warning, half a dozen Nycaloths in form-fitted armor of green steel scale, await as the gangplank is lowered, their eyes evidently used to picking out the strongest in a force, flicking between Mir, Mash, Vale, B'groff... and possibly somewhat surprisingly, unassuming Seethe in her dress and backpack.

As one of the yugoloths barks something in its wicked tongue, the merchant translates once again. "They're going to guide us to the Center, where their Lord, this "Wrath", will greet us as guests. And judging from its tone, I don't think keeping the Overlord waiting would be wise."

Mir nods to Seethe acknowledging, proceeding across the gangplank to their awaiting escorts, briefly motioning a quiet sentence across her shoulder with a few fingers to the crew aboard - "Wait there."
