1. Which version of the bound fiend was this, the Phlegethan, Canian, or Nessian? This is very important, as you have different minimum levels for the demonologist (8/11/14 for wiz, 9/12/15 for sorc/bard). Most people move beyond beastlands by level 15.

2. Were you doing just the grasslands, or did you take her into the forest and against the boss in the cave as well? On the ice plane, were you only facing salamanders or did you take on the giants?

3. Also, were you running the area(s) on standard or gatecrasher mode?

4. Where did its power lie? Was it doing abnormally high amounts of damage, impossible for enemies to hit, or breaking out class features I hadn't taken into consideration?

5. Which buff spells were in effect on the pet?

6. Still waiting for feedback from anyone who's made a NE/CE demonologist and gotten the Incubus pet.
No, I get mopped in the Abyss.

1) In Brux, it was Phlegethan; I updated only on the ice plane.

2) Only grasslands. And on the ice plane, we sometime killed the one giant outside the cave, but it was very borderline; we managed to do that without any deaths at the very end of the session only, and entering the cave was out of question.

3) Gatecrasher.

4) Good because of it's decent AC + Mirror image and reliable AB once buffed. Also, she got fey as favored ennemy. She was inflicting criticals around 50dmg; while it's not bad for that level, she's more of a tank.

5) I don't remember exactly, but it was roughly Heroism (then Greater), Greater Mage Armor, Keen, Protection against alignment, Bull's Strenght, Stoneskin and so on. I basically get and use all useful buffs I can on her. Then, on the party. Hence the fact that I'm left with very few spells to use; I do keep some for when I'm in a pinch, but again, I'm mainly becoming my pet's pet.

Except Jambi and his friends, everyone I played with found the erynie good but not overpowered.

As a matter of fact, I leveled as easily with Aslya (Half-Fiend bard with an unoptimised build) and way more easily with my ghaele.

^ That's how it is with fiends. You think you're in control, until you realize that they always
have the upper hand.

The fact that you can "Cheese" something should not be a measure of the how, or when, it should be nerfed.... The class (all classes really) needs to be good for all sorts of players, not just power builders and cheese mongers.

On my Demonologist spellsword pretty much every time I fought something they would all go for the Incubus, despite the fact that I aggroed them first. It's probably the AC seek script, which is an annoying as *** script btw.

Dear Orlitoq

I have read that sentence several times now.
But i fail too see how you connected my statement about cheese and needing a nerf?

Since the only thing im stating there, is that it can be cheesed.
Please, would you mind pointing out, where exactly you are reading the word nerf?

Actually Orlitoq.. or anyone, could you point out too me where exactly i have ever said that the class needs to be straight up nerfed? or when i actually used the word Nerf in my previous posts? I would very much appreciate it.
I do not see how your post above, contributes anything too the whole discussion.

Now, when all your guys are done defending the class.. and about how it should not get nerfed holding eachothers hands in protest. Could we please continue the discussion on how we can perhaps fine tune the demonologist a little?

Fine tuning means too me, too make the class where it is jsut about right in the low / mid and end game content. Since some made the observation that its too weak in the end game right?

But too me it seems the discussion is turning toward Demonologist needed a buff only. So it is strong from level ~8-30.
Wich brings me back too the original point why i opened this discussion. Scaling with other classes.

If you have looked for any such words as TUNE DOWN / NERF / MAKE WEAKErR in my posts etc, and cannot find them. I hope you realise the discussion is about fine tuning.. not nerfing. Nerfing it is not something i brought up. Nerfing means making in weaker/ takign things away.. with nothing in return... wich in most cases never turns out well.

Anyways, lets keep it civilized. Arent we all allowed too an oppinion? Is it realy needed too jump on small things a person says with a counter argument?

I am now 26, and it seem to me that it's fine as it is. No fine tuning needed. It started strong, because I got it way sooner than most chars, being human. It's still fine, but not overpowered, nor underpowered. Maybe it'll start to be lacking on Porphatys; we'll see.

[Edit]

Confirmed.

On Porphatys, the erinye is worthless; her AB is too low to hit, even buffed.

This sounds like maybe an Epic feat should be added that gives the top level Summon one more boost to handle itself in the last area's or otherwise the class will pretty much just be used to as a way to pool abunch of innitial experiance and enritch the character before doing a full rebuild.

Thats what i was thinking as well. It is not hard too make a human demonologist and get too level 20 or so, without having too spend much jinks. And then rerolling a build that heavily relies on equipment too be sufficient at leveling.
But its realy upto the person how he wants too play the game.

Didn't realize you were using it in Beastlands, I somehow had visions of it mopping things up in the Abyss. So, some basic questions...

Seeing as how my level 15 Incubus with 31 AB and 39 AC get's annihilated at the Abyss on Cutter with an ECL 18, I'd say it deserves a boost, not a nerf.
