To all concerned,

A massive disturbance occurred in the city late afternoon yesterday when an especially large illithid nautilus class spelljammer warped into the skies just between the Ladies Ward and Great Bazaar. The ship was damaged, and promptly came crashing down, destroying a residential block on impact. A large party of planewalkers and I hurried over to investigate. Outside we found a single injured illithid who, after much coercing, finally admitted that Sigil was the ships destination, but that they were attacked by githyanki pirates on the other side. Further questioning and attempts to remove him from the scene led to his attacking the group, which in turn had us incapacitating him (he should still live however). Following this, the Harmonium finally rallied to the scene. While they secured the outside, we breached the hull and entered the vessel.

Describing the inside of this alien vessel would take up  a research paper of its own, so I'll skip to the mission specific revelations.

First and foremost; we discovered a very large cache' of Mnemur scrolls scattered through out the ship. It is obvious that this was the primary cargo, as one of our companions- a vampire named Brynn- peered into some kind of mind stone on board and received visions of a location in Undersigil, supposedly filled with tentacles and the repetition of the word "mnemur". This ties in with the presence of a self-proclaimed seer from a few days back who had warned of some kind of impending event involving those mysterious scrolls.

More disturbingly, we found a passage leading from the damaged ship down into Undersigil. Some of the crew seem to have escaped. Whether they took with them the reagents for some ritual or simply escaped remains to be seen, though the planewalkers and I are planning to follow up on this lead as soon as we have recovered from our exposure to the vessels psionic frequencies.

During our exploration, we came upon several hundred pods, 25% of which held still living humanoid prisoners, whom we freed. These people remained unconscious, but are currently in the Harmoniums hands and will hopefully recover soon.

We also discovered a lone female githyanki prisoner. She was.... less than cooperative, but professed that the illithids had been acting especially strange, even for their kind. To what extend she means remains to be seen (she is in Harmonium hands), though the suggestion was that they appeared almost possessed and dazed.

The arrival of this ship has caused a massive stir in the city, and most of us who are in possession of a number of these mnemur scrolls have felt the disturbance either in dreams or some other manner. As such, I strongly advise all within our Order to avoid channeling these scrolls if they are in your possession. Further, I'd ask that anyone maintaining a collection of them come and speak with me as soon as possible so that we can take a final count for how many are within our factions possession, and figure out what to do with them before this new enemy attempts to compromise them further.

NOTE: In case there was any question, it was my order that had those units dispatched from the prison to assist with re-securing the block and evacuating the wounded civilians.

As noted in my last report, I joined a large contingent of plane walkers with the intent of venturing bellow into Undersigil to investigate the whereabouts of the crashed nautalus cruiser's surviving crew members. The search was simple enough, as we had the help of a reliable guide. Along the way, we discovered evidence of the last illithid having been attacked, his arm severed and seemingly dragged off deeper into the chamber normally inhabited by basilisks (the full nature of this chamber is known to some, and cannot be spoken of in the Cage. Further explanations may be discussed verbally in another locale).

Down in the chamber, we found a massive gathering of Tharzidum cultists performing some sort of ritual. They were high priests all, and protected by an elite cadre of guards armed with potent enchanted arms and armor. We moved in to engage, and after a grueling battle, we finally prevailed (albeit barely.... this group was very well prepared).

By the end of the battle, there was little to be discerned. I have yet to confirm whether or not any mnemur scrolls were recovered (I could not do so then, as I was myself severely wounded and then occupied), though I will do so soon. The illithid was, however, present as a prisoner, along with several other sentients. All were killed between the ritual and crossfire of the battle.

There was, however, one cultist to survive, thanks to a sleep bomb planted by Phantom. This prisoner has been brought up and locked in our cells. I have issued an order that no one except myself or Factor Charae be permitted to approach him. I will be inviting a few of the Planewalkers to assist in the  interrogation as well, and would like to clarify what our procedures for such cases are (am I permitted to bring them bellow, or is the interrogation to be held in the visitors area?).

Additionally, in light of the confirmation that the cult of Tharzidum is involved in whatever is going on with these mnemur scrolls, I am placing a formal request to rally as many combat units as can be mustered for an all out assault on the temple. That place is an affront to justice as it is, and now they are clearly acting on some malevolent scheme that has already claimed the lives of an entire residential district in town. Factor Kala Ta'kan is keen to support any such assault, as will several of the independents already involved in the investigations. I would aim to investigate what is going on in this temple, and if possible destroy it once more.

Sincerely,

Justice Dace Andor

PS: I would like to request the day off.
