The format for this bio was provided here.

It should be noted that while I prefer to play evil characters, that I do not necessarily share the same values.

Bio info will be updated as it changes IC.

Xaul got hauled away to the Far Realms... no one knows how or why, but the experience altered his very being and robbed him of most his memories. He now hears the call of Thoon.

Mental Information

Xaul is naturally psionic, as such he is capable of surface telepathy and can establish a telepathic link for conversation.
However, Xaul derives most of his power through his fanatic praise of Thoon.

Alignment: <(NE) Neutral-Evil>
Philosophy: Neutral evil is the philosophy that the self is best advanced by using whatever means necessary. It is a philosophy of egoistic consequentialism. This philosophy holds that people should behave egoistically and embrace any social order that allows them to gain the most power.

Mind flayers don't bother with direct confrontation. Too much use of their very valuable time. They lurk in the background manipulating events from afar. If they need to get rid of someone they either send minions or manipulate someone not under their direct control. Because they are that sneaky. They only get involved directly if they absolutely must (low on resources, nothing else will work, you've taken the fight to them).

Deity/Beliefs: <Xaul was a devout follower of Ilsensine, the Brain-God. But has had a recent interaction with the ancient deity Thoon, and has radically altered his beliefs.>
Personality:
Cautious Tries to always have back up plan, and not get killed. Secretive Tells as little of his intentions and himself as possible. Careful Deal with problems without dirtying own hands. (use cohorts/deceive others to do your job) Conspiratorial Plotting a crime or rebellion and wonders if the PCs are likely recruits. Fatalistic Willing to help the PCs because nothing really matters, anyway. Machiavellian Tries to involve the PCs in a complicated scheme to gain power or harm an enemy. Nihilistic secretly worships a dark deity of decay and destruction who will be pleased if the NPCs brings about the party's ruin. Patronizing views the PCs as common street rabble and condescends to them. [/li]
Additional Information
Gear: <Wears heavy armor, carries a variety of deadly looking weapons and tools>
Jewelry: <A flat, green, humming metallic disc>
Habbits/hobbies: <eavesdropping, information dealing, hunting for quintessence and brains>
General Health: <In excellent condition... except the terminal amounts of crazy>
Favorite Drink: <A mysterious liquid, always steaming hot. It has no spoken name, but in common it would be identified as 'Cerebrew' or 'Brainsop'>

Weaknesses:
  • Ambitious You crave power. Money is nice, but being in charge of other people is your favorite thing. You are likely to be brought down by attempting a risky grab for power and failing.
Cowardly You have a strong sense of self-preservation. You often hesitate to put yourself at risk, even if there's a good reason to do so.
History
Xaul is a primer from the Underdark on Fae'run. His Hivemind Enclave was one of the most powerful groups of planeswalking Illithids there... that is until they threw their power around too frivolously and ended up waging war on almost every race they encountered. As a result of this Xaul would spend little to no time within the enclave itself, instead choosing to wander the twisiting tunnels to practice his rather unconventional tactics (for a flayer that is).

It was long after these wars started that the Hive began to decline, slowly but surely after every raid from either the drow, duergar, other illithids, humans and other surface dwellers... the Hivemind collapsed. Leaving Xaul on his own as he returned to discover a mostly empty lair.
He spent as much time as he could trying to rebuild what he could out of the rubble, he studied whatever restricted knowledge he could get his hands on that were reserved for the Ularithids and other high-ups.

It was during one of his study sessions within the arcane sanctum that he was surprise attack by a random group of heroes. Fleeing further into the center sanctum, Xaul could find no way out... he barricaded himself within the central chamber and as they door began to come down he reached out to brace the door with his hands, being psioncly exhausted. That handle of the inner sanctum would be a portal to Sigil. Little did he also know that the key was smashed as soon that door came down.

Since then, Xaul has been stranded in Sigil...

But his past has long since been forgotten to him, a horrifying stay in the Far Realms has altered his being and mind... now an ever faithful servant of Thoon... Thoon is all.

Xaul relinquished himself from the surface of Sigil once more to find the abandoned home in the Undercage that he is using as a hideout. In the corner a dead body hangs... from whatever previous owner did to someone (or possibly the previous owner did himself) The stench keeps most everyone away, and no one comes down here anyway... it was the perfect place, for the time being to find a good body to feed on. "No one will miss those wretched chattle anyway..." Xaul thinks to himself as he stands the beggar up from the floor, holding him up by the shoulders, claws diggin in. Tentacles... one by one slowly wrapping themselves around the throat, forehead and chin to feed on the horrified beggar.

Only moments ago, Xaul had found this poor sod wandering in Undersigil, beggin' every soul he saw for "just a jink!"... so Xaul asked the begger if he'd like to come over for a meal... to which the beggar idiotically replied with a resounding "YESSUM! SSSIRRAH"

The Fool! If only everyone worth devouring were this gullible.

Satisfied with his first real meal since arriving in Sigil just a mere few weeks ago, Xaul continues to desecrate the body in a ritual set for his silently revered deity, Ilsensine, The Brain-God. Xaul then remembers his many findings in his most recent hours upon Sigil and throughout Limbo. He remembers where he got the first one... Some goblin had it stuffed in his belt... covered in its own blek... presumably for use as toilet paper. The Second's presence he felt almost immediately afterwards... drawing him to a duo of heroes, who would posses it. Not knowing of it's power... they would hand it over for an amount of gold... The third was found soon after in Limbo. A group of Slaadi seemed to be fighting over who would get to have it... (I'm guessing again as toilet paper) Before Xaul would settle the matter for them by taking it by force.

It wasn't much longer after the first that he would discover the next two... He could feel the power of the object beginning to grow. Still unaware of their true purpose... Whatever it may be.
Xaul had no regard anyway for it's *true* purpose. Only his own. Xaul was confident he could even 'listen' in on them sometimes... although the language was undecipherable to him.

He decided it was best to keep the others hidden and separated for now... lest someone suspect him of amassing them.

He returned to his ritual and taking the first scroll he found, would place it upon his "makeshift beggar-altar" and meditate on it. He thinks upon Ilsensine How would the Brain-God use these? Unable to decipher their use any further, Xaul slumped down into a decaying bed and retired his thoughts for the time being.

Xaul awoke upon his last night's previous work... disgusted... he proceeds to eliminate any traces of his presence there. He remember the events leading up to the previous night, there was an attack on the Bazaar... he even went so far as to save the damned lobster who crawled back into the burning building... even then the people of Sigil remain suspicious of his intent here... He'll have to try harder than that to convince the folk here he's not out to get them (yet).

Xaul pondered upon his most recent dealings with this hooded man. It's a great opportunity to practice my abilities... Xaul considers. Even if the process is quite risky, through this method, information can be gleamed from someone without their knowledge, but execution of the technique must be flawless. It will also be a grand opportunity to make myself some jink... and then some... A Metafaculty of this nature will require a contingency plan as well, otherwise if things fall through it could already mean the end of his short time here in Sigil... In deals of this matter, betrayal is second nature.

He unwraps his entwined tentacles, one by one, from around the tall cylindrical-spiraled mug once full of a mysterious steaming, bubbling liquid. The remains of a now eaten through foam membrane is the only evidence left of his favoured drink. He places it down on the counter of the bar, and stared into owner of those orange eyes who's audacity to approach him would result in such an arrangement.

Perhaps I should quintuple the price... Xaul thinks to himself breifly, as the hooded figure takes a step away from the bar, seemingly satisfied with what knowledge he has learned.

Xaul chose a table at Khazeet's and took a seat. Hands together, mind lost in deep thought. It had been another few weeks since he had eaten the unfortunate beggar in under-sigil village, he would have to feast again soon... much longer and he would starve. He could not eat again in the same place, it would draw too much attention...

Xaul's separation anxiety began to set in... he was alone out here, no allies to call upon. Any Survivors of the onslaught of his home may find the key... though there's good reason to believe it won't work. Perhaps there's another door they could find... it was no matter...

*STARVING*

...endlessly repeating in his mind over and over, the need to satiate his appetite for brains was growing unfathomable for him. Never before had he felt such a hunger. Even in *his dreams* the need to eat pervades every thought, every face melting away into an appetizing morsel just out of reach, only to be stolen away by another darting body, more ravenous than himself...

*Safe...*

The word filled his brain suddenly, overflowing with paranoia. Xaul started to scheme, clutching a *blek-stained scroll* On how he could begin to integrate himself into the society of Sigil and secure himself. There must be a safer way to thrive here.

*Safe*

Xaul turned in his slumber... in a makeshift shelter, dug into the ground in Karasuthra. The eternal night would comfort Xaul, were it not for the re-occuring nightmares that began during his outings outside the walls of Sigil to find a succulent brain.

Dreams of what appeared to be illithid morgues chased him... a haunting echo came from beyond the great unknown repeating a terrifying and maddening truth that only the oldest beings from beyond time would dare to utter.

"Destiny lies in your hands, Xaul. The time has come to realize your future. No longer are you bound to serve the Elder-brain of your old collective or the Brain-God who does not answer your prayers. You are lost, alone, but now you have been found. Your paths, now unlocked, for you are the key to spreading the truth of your mighty kind. The fate of all that will ever be known is to be engulfed in the darkness of the mighty Illithid." *Visions of the alien, illithid-morgues suddenly overcame Xaul, surrounded... pulled under, flesh slowly rendered away, only a spinning, flat, green metallic disc remained... and the haunting call of Thoon*

"Thoon beckons your power to act. You will form a kult and amass power within the walls of Sigil. You will spread the word of the coming darkness to all, and enslave or feed on those who will not heed it, for it is all they are worthy of. Awaken, mighty catalyst of misfortune. "

The once sleeping flayer awakens, horrified, confused again at the strange re-occurring nightmare. The message of Thoon beared repeating within his mind, the very thoughts burned into his psyche. Xaul felt troubled, but his adrenaline surged as the voice of thoon echoed within his head. Xaul knew he was weakened... starving... he had not eaten for nearly a month... his research of the illithid beverage known in common as "Cerebrew" bearing no fruit yet, except that his research is being aided by the mysterious Mir. He could wait no longer, he must feast and soon... As he stood himself up to ready himself for another hunt, a flat round green disc falls at his feet.

It was not there before, never had his dreams beared any kind of manifestation... He took the symbol up and fastened it to his belt. bearing it proudly, awakened by the maddening fervent chants in his head.

Xaul had been taking to life in Sigil well, not all was perfect, but whatever is? He had found his access to the planes was now effortless, allowing access to feast upon wanderers outside the city walls...

It was during one of his many sojourns to limbo that a great rift opened in the sky. Surely, strange things of all sorts appear in limbo, but what appeared through the portal was beyond the normal fare. What first appeared as an abyssal hole in the sky widened into a starless blackened void. Within the void, alien tendrils ripped from the darkness, seeming to drag the light away with it. A massive, multi-eyed and many faced horror begins to emerge and draws Xaul within its grip...

Being pulled seemingly forever into nothingness, Xaul fades away from sight... into the Far Realms, the void instantly collapsing behind him leaving only a resounding echo... despite the ever changing limbo.

*THOON*

((I'll be away from this game for a small while, and i'll be making a follow up post when I can devote a bit more time and effort into it, instead of my current job. Best wishes to all for now!))

Xaul was pulled into the Far Realms during a hunt in Limbo, a massive portal had ripped open in the shifting sky with alien tentacles reaching forth... Many months... possibly years had passed? His concept of time in the Far Realms diminished into nothingness as he saw the beginnings and ends of cities and kings rise and fall, he watched as suns died and faded, he observed black holes swallow up entire galaxies... worlds... existences. The visions of the mighty Illithid empire in all its glory... the beginning ... and the end.

Thoon's will boomed in his brain... eating away at him. Xaul's mind began to crumble, his previous existence was shattered, all he knew was gone, all he was, had changed... only an echo remained within his thoughts.

"Thoon is Thoon and Thoon is all.

Suddenly... he was ripped away, found himself again in Sigil, a new purpose rang true within him. He would see the rise of a new Illithid empire here in Sigil, even if it meant the destruction of everything that was, and is to be. Xaul knew the true power of the Illithid empire, nothing will stop him now.
