Its been a week since a certain drow heard the news from a passing by patrol of guardsmen: one of the few people he found worthy of calling 'friend' had passed away in the night. The news caught him dumbfounded and struck him like a blow to the head, as he spent the rest of hour standing still and staring off into the distance.
"No." was the word that shattered his grief-stricken silence, and without further a do, he ran off to the Hall of Records to call in an old favor or two.
As Ra ran across the alleyways and dank streets of the Hive, an idea began to form in his mind about how and why this could have happened. He figured that Vale didn't want to be kept alive by machines and thus gave up on life, recalling incidents where no priestess would bother healing an injured warrior, and thus a wizard grafted a mechanical limb onto them, only to have the individual go insane.
"Being kept alive by machines is no life... I've seen not one man go insane from having a golem's arm grafted onto them... if we want a ressurection to work, his spirit needs to see a proper body to return to..."
Arriving in the Hall of Records, he went up to a clerk who still owed him a favor and cleared himself through. Donning his hood to avoid prying eyes, he walked down the same old steps he once called home, quickly turning to the records relating to Prime Material Worlds.
"...so if we find a place of power to reforge his body... like one of those big soddin' trees druids gather around... and preferably in his homeland... The Ressurection spell should bloody well work."
His eyes stop at a massive tome claiming to describe the entirety of one of Toril's major regions, written by one called Volo. Lifting the tome down, he quickly found the table of contents and skimmed through it, stopping at the first familiar names.
"...hmm, Amn... Icewind... What's it called... there it is. Now I just need a druid... or cleric... or someone who isn't a complete git when it comes to using divine powers.... get there, and do this."
Next stop was the Godsmen's Foundry, where he sought out the one person in touch with the divine that he respected, Factor Kala Ta'kan. Their meeting was brief, with the elemental cleric confirming the validity of his ideas and agreed to join their quest for some later favors.
A few hours later, he finally caught up with two grief stricken friends, Odette and Kelth, whom welcomed the idea with a glimmer hope and sealed their involvement with a pact of three hands. Moments later, the fey'ri, Kara was also informed, yet she showed signs of hesitations for undisclosed reasons... never the less, the drow knew that she'd turn up when the fateful moment would arrive.
Now, with everyone taking their share of getting this boundlessly optimistic idea to work, it was only a matter of time...
Bringing Back An Old Friend

Upon discovering of a group acting to resurrect Vale, the Dragon Junathoraxus speaks with Harmonium guards preparing to go on patrol in the barracks, asking them to send word to the parties involved of his interest in aiding their efforts, and return any with any response.

Getting wind of Ra'zeth's idea, Kara von Helvete was initially apprehensive. After all, meddling with dead bodies that have been sat around for a bit does take on an entirely different connotation when you've been raised by a necromancer. The last thing she wanted was to see Vale return to Sigil in the guise of a creature more akin to one of her mother's minions than the 'man' he was, metal bits and all. Still, whatever passed for loyalty as far as the young fey-ri was concerned compel her to do her bit.
Growing up not far from Good Mead, Kara knew Icewind Dale well enough. She was more than happy to provide Ra'zeth and anyone else involved with a crash-course in the local geography, though travelling there would be an entirely different matter at least as far as she was concerned....

As one of the pacted three, Odette had likewise been biding her time with careful preparations. Working for the body's release alongside Kelth and Dace on the matter, the mercenary aided where it was needed, researched where it helped and otherwise kept a careful eye on the activities and how they were panning out. By this point, she didn't care how or who... she just wanted to bring their friend home.
If worst came to worst, it had been discussed that there was possibility in finding a weak point in the veil and tearing it for portal's gateway... yet it was not a gift the huntress had full control of at this point, nor did it seem wise to be forcing such things without dire need. A backup plan, if ever there was one.
Heavy furs were treated and set aside for the biting cold of the trip to come.

A day after Junathoraxis reported killing the automn fey suspected of murdering Vale, Factor Andor of the Mercykillers arrived at the barracks with a four man escort. He had already written to Measure Chari about his intentions to pick up the body the day before, and so hoped all the necessary arrangements were made.

The body of one Notary Vale Reynolt is guarded closely. Dace and his entourage are shown where the body rests and is ready for transport. However, before he is allowed to leave with the body, the guards tell Dace he must meet with Measure Chari

Having come to Sigil from a portal far from Icewind Dale, Kara was uncertain as to the exact whereabouts to bring them closer to their target, though she did remember Vale speaking of one he used frequently that brought him close to his family's estate.Tomekk,Jan 20 2016 wrote: As the pieces were slowly falling in place, Ra went looking for a portal to Icewind Dale: first by asking Kara then by knocking at the Guvners' door.
