Now that I think back on it, life was never easy.
Growing up to be the target of every sick joke the other kids and their parents can muster, enduring all the beatings. being called the fatherless bastard, then the horned bastard. It really never got old to them, they seemed to enjoy my torment, and finding a new insult every bloody week.
The man (?) who sired me? No, I don't know who or what he was. I don't know where he came from, or where he is now. If I knew, maybe I would go and look for him. Just to punch him in the face for good measures sake.
My what? Mother? Oh the wench that brought me into living in that back alley, in that smelly old hut? She's dead. And good riddance. How you ask? Well let me tell you, she was a wench. That's right, she sold herself for money. Maybe that is how I came to be. Don't know, don't care. But she raised me, you say? Yeah, right. Until the age of 4 she did. Or maybe she didn't, not much is coming back from those days. Except for the day she died. Must've taken the wrong man into her bed that day. The thick smell of blood all over the place. The foul odored used sheets soaked in red. The glassy, open eyes. Her entrails hanging down to the foot of her bed like some big slimy snake. Yeah, this I remember well.
How I survived you ask? Well, what do you care anyway. But okay, why not tell you, what happens to orphans around our parts. Rocks, beatings, sticks, you name it. But I was faster. I found I could see in the dark as perfectly as in broad daylight. And one time, yeah one time some joker set my clothes on fire. And it didn't even hurt. That was the day I began to suspect that their torturing words might have some truth in it.
So yeah I was caught. I went to the organization, and had to choose. Dagger or work. As I'm here, I worked.
Worked night and day, as hard as I could. I got better. I was pretty good. Except for those bloody spellweavers. But hely, I knew the concept of vengeance by then. So when they didn't look, or were deep in their world and reading their tomes, thats when I came. I don't usually do it, you're not supposed to do it, but even the most docile dog can bite. So I bit. And figure, the blood was the same red as my whore-mothers.
So now I'm here. This place is new, it welcomed me with open arms. And I'm staying. True, I couldn't get back even if I wanted, but who cares. Nobody cares what I AM here, the only thing that matters is what I PAY. So yeah, as long as I can get the jink, I might as well stay here.
Oh and berk, I see you are getting slower on the uptake. Must be the sleeping potion doing its work, eh? Well, let's see what you got...
