Modron – Rogue Tridrone Fighter/Mage/Thief
Screw-Loose is the collective term for the three distinct personalities making up this Rogue Tridrone, although each face prefers to be referred to by its own name.
Screw-Loose happened to be in a attack team of Modrons sent out to stop Gear Thieves, where it suffered major damage and went into emergency shutdown. It re-booted hours later to find itself in the back of a cart heading for a Sigil Gate, presumably to be sold for scrap. The damage had been done, however, and the three distinct personalities formed. The character who would later be known as Choking-Hazard killed the cart driver as it gained consciousness before the others. All three took their names from various words written on boxes (This-Way-Up and Choking-Hazard) and the cart itself. (“Egbert and T’chrx, Scrap Merchants”)
Egbert is the charming, erudite face, and while he believes that order is essential to the running of the Multiverse, he also has a sense of morality and goodness that temper his actions. He also has a weakness for romantic fiction concerning chivalry and the like. Egbert is the mage of the triad, having studied the mathematical formulas required to change reality on a small scale, and he focuses on beneficial magic.
This-Way-Up is the only personality of the three to remember anything of the TridroneÂ’s life before it went rogue, and it doesnÂ’t speak often, finding the other two faces irritating and irrational. This-Way-Up is often prompted to back up the other personalities when they argue (which they do so near constantly), but rarely participates. If it has a goal, it would be that it was returned to its pre-rogue condition. This-Way-Up is the warrior of the triad, throwing javelins as it originally would have.
Choking-Hazard is the antithesis of everything Modrons should be. It is lewd, aggressive and revels in causing chaos. Since each face controls their arm independently, Choking-Hazard delights in theft and inappropriate behaviour when EgbertÂ’s attention is elsewhere. Choking Hazard is the only face to belong to a faction, namely the Xaositects, and his past behaviour denied Egbert entry to the Fraternity of Order. It is the thief of the Triad.
