Like Zadara, I'd be interested in a one-shot. I prefer 4E, I have and am familiar with Map Tools, and the 4E Character Creator from Wizards--so if anyone needs help making 4E characters, I can run your concept through, and send you a copy of your completed character sheet and ability/item cards.
Edit: as a plug for 4E, it is VERY easy to pick up. Which is the nice part about it. Plus, if we start at low levels, you still have plenty of cool things you can do with your powers and skills, and isn't nearly limiting as low levels in 3 or 3.5.

I guess there's no chance of convincing everyone to play a round of AD&D, circa 1985? Hehehe...
I'd be interested in joining in a 3.5E adventure (since I've crammed so much of it into my head in the last three years thanks to NWN2), less so in 4E, which feels much more like a video game to me from what I've read.

Both MapTools are programs that enable people to connect to a networked map grid and tabletop board, that you can alter with terrain/board game pieces in order to play just about any game that requires knowing where your characters are positioned for encounters.wrote: I think I'd be interested... how do those programs you were mentioning work?
http://www.rptools.net/ is where MapTools can be downloaded from. I suggest those interested in gaming go ahead and download that.
Maybe someday! But 3.5 rules will be pretty easy to learn after playing NWN2.wrote: I guess there's no chance of convincing everyone to play a round of AD&D, circa 1985? Hehehe...
What module, Levels, Date and Time are still being decided on, but for those wanting to get started on character creation. The Rulebooks allowed (To begin with) are.
Player's Handbook 1&2, Dungeon Master's Guide. Spell Compendium, The Complete Series (Complete Warrior, Scoundrel, etc. Excluding Psionics)
I'd also like one paragraph of RP history for the character, though I understand it may be difficult without knowing what module we'll be playing.
Trying to keep it reasonably simple, and lowish levels (God no, not level 1, I don't like people being one-shot when/if combat breaks out)

Well then start setting the guidelines for us.
Starting with what level we're starting at :P

Also gameworld would be useful. Forgotten Realms, Greyhawk, or some generic earth-based fantasy world (worth knowing to anyone who wants to play a cleric, paladin, etc.)?

Also, even if they come up with character concepts, it's a good idea to know who will be playing and who won't, so players can coordinate on party roles. For those not familiar with PnP, a diverse group is a good group. Gotta make sure a party has all of its bases covered!
Let's just say, five wizards with no melee is a world of pain! XD
Though on that note:

if there are already 4 confirmed players i can wait. also prefer 3.5 but would be willing to game with you guys whatever comes.
besides, four clerics, with the right domains, is much better for a mono-class group anyway.
i cast magic missile at the darkness!

So, While my new video card is being ordered, I thought I'd toss this out to anyone willing to participate.
I plan to DM a game of tabletop D&D over the internet. While it isn't the exact same thing as a bunch of turbo nerds getting together, telling dirty jokes and downing cheetos and mountain dew. The game is still very enjoyable.
I plan to run it either via MapTools or OpenRPG. While I prefer MapTools, as it's got a cleaner look and more features , OpenRPG is the one I'm familiar with, despite being unstable to some computers. (I'm fiddling to learn MapTools)
but before anything could get started, I need three of four interested players
, What day , what time, and the system we use (3.5/4th edition)
will be determined by the participants, but chances are, I'll be running a module, not something made up, or from scratch
(Though I'll be sure to add extra tidbits of my own in the adventure.)
If the game is found enjoyable, We can turn it into a weekly sort of deal.
So, anyone interested?
