Lately, while the Orcs patrol the quiet territory in the under village, the territory once held by the Cartel, activity has begun on a small scale. Repairs are being made to the buildings and streets, to fix the damage brought on by the Harmonium raids and the previous uprising. Doors are being re-hung and walls are being painted. Windows replaced and cobbles reset. The buildings still remain all but empty as no residents have been brought back into the area. It seems to those in the know, that whoever purchased the territories after the Cartels ousting is intent on bringing life back to the empty streets.

KreeÂ’s establishment would see an increase in business as well as her tavern, all but cut off to the rest of the village by the patrolling Orcs, would now be a second home to the workers brought in to fix the place up.

Members of the Syndicate would look upon this activity with mistrust and apprehension. It was no secret this territory is one of the largest and most secure and whoever actually owns it would be given a powerful seat at the table should they want itÂ… but Shard keeps them placid and content. The peace is maintained through the strength and intuition of the powerful Warshaman.

During the repair stage it has been noted that many of the buildings had suffered great structural damage from the short uprising and their cave-in tactics and also due to previous Hobgoblin burrowing during the short war with the Iron Tusk. This will no doubt slow the reconstruction process as crews of miners and stoneworkers will have to be brought in to burrow under the entire territory to shore up all existing foundations and footings. For simple disposal of debris, a temporary mine track is built from the territory being fixed up to the entrance of the Grey Wastes via the great Cog. Carts of stone and dirt are seen moving back and forth constantly to be dumped in the wastes. Support beams and new bricking are moved back to the construction site to replace crumbling structure. This stage would continue for some time to ensure all foundations, supports and defensive constructions are at one hundred percent effectiveness.

It appears as if the main street area of the territory is being remodeled into a marketplace with storefronts and stalls lining both sides. Above the shops are housing. KreeÂ’s establishment is being used as the centerpiece of the market square. While no where near as big as the great bazaar of Sigil, it appears as if it will be quite useful to a mercantile communityÂ… once complete. Word is that the Orcs have been contracted to provide security to the area on a go forward basisÂ… yet another financial boon for the Warchief and his tribe.

The construction neared completion. Over the last several weeks the crews shored up, or in many cases completely replaced, the older foundations of all the buildings in the entire area now controlled by the Consortium. The area now began to take on a more professional, albeit still dark and gloomy due to the location, atmosphere. Walls were painted, roofing replaced, gutters and alleys cleaned, streets swept and stalls repaired or replaced. Old fountains were once again working and ditches were covered with wooden walkways. While it still required around the clock lighting and security, the entire area began to show a location fitting of the market in Sigil (although on a much smaller and shadier scale).

Heavily guarded caravans began to bring in stock for the local shops and warehouses. Merchants were hired and employees were given housing. Security remained tight while the Mercantile company neared completion of the large investment being made in the village.

The Syndicate, of which the mercantile company held a voting position in, kept a close eye on operations being done. They had their traditional territories to protect after all. The Consortium did permit, however, members of the Syndicate to lease properties within the merchant block for business use.

All in all the project was coming to a close and would soon open for regular business.

Construction had finished and shelves had been stocked. Security in the area was tight with Iron Tusk orcs (More specifically the Iron Tusk Orcs able to follow orders) patrolling the area and guarding all entrances and exits. The market was in full swing with protected caravans bringing both goods, and shoppers, in from the surface and other locations near portals.

The market sold a smaller selection of what was on the surface and also things that were considered... darker. So long as it wasn't outright illegal it could be found in the Consortium markets of UnderSigil. Everything from mundane merchandise to soft drugs to sex could be found in the UnderSigil markets. While some would question the choice and raise an eyebrow at the selection, one had to remember... UnderSigil was not the city above and the people who moved through it demanded a different kind of selection. The more easilly offended shoppers would simply stay in the city.

Charles would try to locate Kree directly to ensure her business either opens on schedule or is sold to his interests should she have no desire to run it. It was considered a focal point to the area and could not remain closed for long.

Earlier this week there was an incident involving one of the lesser known sitting members of the Syndicate. During what could only be described as a horrific lab accident, Syndicate member Thumal Denidd was killed and her home was reduced to rubble. Searchers from her territory were unable to locate anything more than a few parts of the unfortunate alchemist.

Thumal made most of her small fortune by growing and preparing rare underground spell components, mostly a hard to find luminescent fungi used by alchemists. Her territory, while small, houses a small agricultural farm and “stack” houses for those who worked it for her.

In a surprise move, Sigil resident Shania Dian stepped in and purchased the rights to ThumalÂ’s territory from the workers who, otherwise, would have watched their livelihoods wither away after the current crop. After a short negotiation with the Syndicate, who verified the legality of this move, Miss Dian was permitted the right to sit at the table of the Syndicate as a full sitting member. She was welcomed to the table during a ceremony led by First Chair member Charles Goodman.

All said and done, the Syndicate continues to maintain the peace in UnderSigil and continues to see to the best financial interests for the people of the underground village. This change of members had little to no effect on things and itÂ’s business as usual.

An Orc, presumably from the Iron Tusk, would find his way to Charles Goodman's office. He was given a letter, a small sack of gold, and instructions to deliver it directly to Goodman, and it was for Goodman's eyes only. No magic radiates from the letter, and it's sealed with a Signet depicting a cartoonish top hat. Assuming the letter is opened, it would state the following:
wrote:Greetings and Salutations, Chuckie!

How the hell ya been!? So Vorgazar gave me the invite to join this glorified Circle Jerk.....and what a circle of jerks it is. My my, you guys know how to pick 'em!

Anyhoo, good ol' Vorg told me that there are plenty of opportunities to make a quick jink or three, and I would imagine that with my connections, smooth tongue, and incredibly dashing good looks you could use a guy like me who knows how to..err..."Get things", if you catch my drift.

Just sending a little love letter to let you know that I'm around when and if you need me, I've got a nice little kip in the Lady's where I hang my many hats now, so just give me a shout if you wanna talk!

With Sincerest Love,

Rith Fiddir

The letter is signed with the same Cartoonish Top-hat as the Signet.

P.S. Tell Vorg that the next time he intends to visit a Guulra....take flowers! Cheers!!

Word through the local mercantile circles is that the Consortium has just found a large influx of coin to invest in operations both in Undersigil and the city above. Scouts have been seen meeting with caravan operators, market barons, suppliers and purchasers. Some of the signed deeds from previous loan deals have been collected and the attached lots are being converted into a larger supply compound within Sigils Market Ward.

Word also spreads that the current head of the Consortium, Charles Goodman, is looking to hire a new VP of Operations to manage the expansion. No candidates have been named as of yet. It seems heÂ’s still looking for the right individual.
