From the Sand swept dunes to the cobblestones

The tribe was one the move again. After our dispute with the Clearwater traders, the elders decided to relocate. We ran north/northeast along the shores of the Sea of Silt, looking for a place to stay. I have been half a day away from the main camp, as we were tasked to be on the lookout for a watering hole. The Silt Storm came out of nowhere, and surprised us. Areela was swept away by the onslaught of dirt, and I jumped after her, to catch up and drag her to the safety of the dunes. From the corner of my eye, I registered a glimmer in the whirling silt, and could not stop anymore. I was bathed in a sothing light, and ended my flight on a set of cobblestones in front of a woman with wings.

Disoriented I stumbled along, only to lay eyes on a fire spirit at what seemed like an open air tavern. I dragged myself in, asking him in hushed tone if he had some water for me. His answer took me by surprise, after he handed me a tankard full of clean and shimmering water, and asked only for a mere coin. I drank as I never drank before, and ordered a second, to make sure I'm not dreaming. While I was guzzling myself full, I noticed that they were people standing next to me. Two human females it turned out, and tried to give me a rundown of what happened. One of them dressed in metal armor, as much as I have never seen before. But my head was ringing fast, and I made my escape, heading to a building they said to be an inn.

Two days later, as I was still trying to get my head around things, I noticed someone standing around at the same spot I arrived. My heart beat faster, as it turned out to be an elf like me. For a second, I thought it was Areela, but realized it couldn't be. I approached her, and even forgot my manners, so happy I was to see someone of my kind around. After a few exchanged words, I offered truce, until she gets a look around in town. Caygar as she named herself, followed me to Khazeet, and I watched with a smirk how she reacted when I ordered water. For a while I pondered what to do, when a creature named Juggra approached us. He was either a breed of ogre, or a big Mul, never could discern. He offered us to show the ropes in the city, and frankly, I was pretty relieved to have someone as capable as him around. Before we left, I spent my last coins at the merchant, to bestow a token of trust to Caygar. Hopefully, she won't try anything too extreme while we learn the ways of this place. She seemed quite reckless...

Learning the trade of the planes

It wasn't long after our first excursion to the depths below Sigil, that we met an elf. Small in stature, and sounded like on of us held in captivity for too long. Amir the name given, tried to explain us what all this is, and as a test of faith, asked both of us to endure her spells. I almost ran away frankly, but something told me to stand fast. A ward was given, then another, to help us survive the day, as Amir formulated it. After another excursion, a meeting with other elves was in order. All smaller then us, one with winges who spouted some nonesense about gods and that we are all children of some Correllon.. or whatever.

A man named Fargul then decided to take matter into his own hands, leading us to a house, which hid a portal. Upon setting through, my heart stopped. Only heard it in legends, the forests of the halflings. And yet, there it was, right before my eyes, lush green vegetation, grass denser then in the Oasis' of the preservers, and trees. Though as it soon turned out, there were nasty surprises to be had, too, as the denizens of this place, which Fargul called the Beastlands, were not too pleased with our presence.

Up a ridge we traveled, to a small pass, where the next experience awaited us. A creek, flowing across the pass, with crystal clear water, that seemed to have no end. I couldn't believe my eyes, and was so distracted, that I was nearly run over by a bunch of wolves that appeared out of seemingly nowhere. We fought our way through, and Fargul led us to a clearing.

In the distance, I heard a rumble, akin to the great Silt movements, but it could not have been that. And there it was before us, a mass of falling water, gathering in a lake below. I forgot everything that went on around me, wading into the water like a child, trapsing around, and crying out to Caygar that nowhere at home one could do this. She followed, and after a few minutes of bliss, we found ourselves sitting next to Fargul, who took an easy, but quite lengthy explanation on just what we got into.
After I started loosing interest, I stood up, and decided to show him what we do on these occasions. I readied my mandolin, and asked my tribesman to dance for our new friend. I played a tune, the one I always did when the night caught up with me and my partner on our scouting missions. And she danced to it, like Areela used to.

Fargul laughed, and asked if we're sure we are elves. I assured him that we are the true children of the Starchaser, and as short and violent life in the desert is, that much fun and music we try to bring into it.

As thanks we were treated to a meal and wine, the former unknown to me, a meat I never tasted. After that, as we were about to leave, from some spirit taken, I prodded Caygar into the water, and to my surprise, Fargul took a running start, splashing into it at a moments notice. Soon I followed, wading after, never been in this element before. I was trapped in Silt once, but this felt diferent. Somehow I knew the water could hold my weight if the need arises. Fargul swam to the far shores, and climbed up the rocks of the waterfall. We both followed, only to be sent spiraling down as he gave us a starting prod. I landed safely, but under water, and disoriented. He dragged me to the surface, and then tried to show us how to stay afloat. Not long after, his duties called him, and we returned to the cobblestones of the City of Doors.
