((the following is a continuiation of events started with DarkRob, Midnight and Rozalina's players. Anyone feels like their NPC or PC should get involved too, by all means join in!)).

Dace returns to David & Anna's soup kitchen the next day, once again clad in rough padded vests, a hood and bearing no weapon save a short sword.

Upon arriving, he first donates two thousand to the establishment, partially in compensation for David's absence, before seeking Anna and offering his assistance for the day. While there, he takes note of the patrons and volunteer guards, trying to get a feel for the place's regulars and the chant going around.

While David has still not returned, Anna (David's youngest daughter) runs the place as best she can. It's not much of an establishment, more of a leaky shack being held up by the building beside it. It's one large room (other walls had been removed to make the area bigger) with a cooking pit (a large caldron hoisted over it) and a old blankets and mats strewn about the floor for seating.

The customers that generally come in are from the surrounding area. They are mostly dirty and unkempt, obviously very poor and without hope. They are fed, given clothing or blankets if they require it, and sent on their way until they return. Some do, some don't... it's not always the same people everyday. The food is not great but it is filling and nourishing.

No one is turned away, no one is questioned and no one is judged. Most importantly, everything given is without cost or expectation of return.

Without David here, Anna seems overly busy, talking only while she works.

Dace tries to keep up with the hectic work, while keeping an eye open for anyone who comes in armed.

"So I don't get it..." He says to Anna while clearing up at the end of the day. "What's with the pin? Your dad could keep doing what he does for this place without getting everyone up in knots, and it has nothing to do with this place anyway. So why?"

She would briefly stop from sweeping and look at the man

"Why are you here? I have never met you before my Father began to get into trouble for his pin... The article in Sigis? Would they be so quick to rally around a nameless beggar looking to help? They haven't before. Even the amount of donations have increased... something no beggar sees. The increased attention to my father, his cause and this kitchen... the effects of a simple pin."

She places the broom down and holds her tea cup in her hands and sips

"In order to have something you believe in taken seriously, in order for people to really take notice of you or your cause... you have to be willing to hold your flag up high. My Father is proud of his pin and proud of his work in its name... and to hide his pin, well... that would be admitting defeat of his morals. He understands the fear it might bring but feels that nothing will change by hiding the truth"

She picks the broom back up and begins moving the endless dirt around again

It would be noted that while weapons might be worn in the building by those who enter, none are drawn

Dace quirked an eyebrow at the Sigis question. "Not much of a SIGIS reader miss, so I wouldn't know about that." he shrugged. "You're dad just made a bit of an impression, and not just because of the pin."

He continued cleaning up as he spoke. "Most of the other revolutionaries and...well, honestly a lot of the Hivers have a rep for taking a knife out as the easiest means to an end. Nothing he says is like that though. Doesn't sound like he wants to tear anything or anyone down, just help everyone."

He propped his own broom against a wall once the area was close to clean as it could get. "And the donations are up because people respect him. Not his ideals mind.... the whole revolution thing isn't as catchy, but the fact that he isn't blowing up people for it, and the fact that he's helping so many people."

she would continue to speak while working to get it cleaned up a bit, helping the odd straggler who showed up

"Regardless... I know the man enough to understand, not you, not I and not the compassionate Ilmater himself will be able to convince the man to remove that pin. It keeps him where he thinks he needs to be and says what he thinks needs to be said."

She counts a few coins out of her purse in her Apron and holds them out to Dace

"Here... for your work today. We ensure those who pick up a broom around here are sent home with a few stingers in their hand. Honest pay for honest work"

"And you? Noticed you're not wearing one yourself."

((disregard if she is in fact wearing one)).

He shakes his head. "I'm not doing this for coin miss. Besides... it can be put to better use for the next day right here I imagine."

She shrugs slightly and smiles, putting the coins back in her purse

"I'm not a Revolutionary. I'm just here to help my father. He's getting old and this city is unkind to those of his age... Easy prey to thieves, disease or simple mystery. In time he will be laid to rest and I will continue to do as I must. His fight is his fight... and this here", motions to the dirty room, "is mine.

We all choose our battles, sir, and he has chosen his... but I'm unsure if you have chosen yours. You seem to ask a lot of questions about his intentions, seem to want to understand them. Have you chosen your path in this life?"

He pauses a moment before answering. "I have. Least...I think I did." He shrugs. "It isn't his intentions exactly that I wonder about. Frankly, he's one of the few truly respectable people in the Cage." He offers a feint smirk. "Stubbornness aside." The smirk fades. "It's just that his idea of being a Revolutionary seems kinda different from the rest. Most of the Rev's lately seem to have been pretty eager to use bombs, murder and torture, so it's surprising to see someone waving their symbol about and condemning such things."

A warm smile crosses her lips

"What was it he used to say to me? Peace is a deeper reality than violence. I think he wants the other Revolutionaries to see what can be accomplished by resisting the urge to spread misery. Will they listen... I'm not sure. They seem pretty hell-bent on destroying things... but my father believes that if you want to see change... be the change you want to see. So he leads by example. It seems to be working, I think... you're here aren't you?"

Me? I'm just happy he can make people open their purses and hearts to the people of this place. They have nothing here and this little place is a ray of light in their darkness."
