The server that I plan to exchange the old one for is about ready to go, and I'd like if people would test it a bit, both to see if it works well, and also that no major feature has stopped working

It has the same module as the main machine, and a copy of the vault that is a few days old, and nothing that happens on the test server will persist after the upgrade. So if you ever wanted to spam your expensive charged items, feel free to do it here.

Direct connect to 31.45.47.183 with the password: test

DMs and EMs are also encouraged to log on it and check that it seems to be in order (DM password is same as on the old server), and to spawn ungodly amounts of creatures to see how well the machine can handle it. It should be significantly better than the existing server.

I'll probably leave it up all of today atleast, and will see where we go from there

Note, if it lags a lot, it's because about 100 vs 100 are fighting it out in the abyss right now to try stress test the server hehe

Awesome. May I ask what the specs are of the new server?

Intel Core i7-2600K 3.4 ghz
Mirrored 3tb HD's (should possibly give some benefit on reads, although penalty on write, also good incase of hd failure)
16 gb CL8-8-8-24 Ram

So it's not state of the art, it's just my previous desktop machine, but it should be a big improvement from the current server.

Sounds great! :)
Those specs should be more than enough for NWN2.
Some databases are faster than others. Mysql seems to be quite nice for NWN2.

Linux for the Standalone and one SSD.

yah 3 tb good but I'd seriously consider taking a SSD in it and running the server from the SSD. <you still backup everynight on the HD. the increase in permorfamce is astronomical talking about Boot times and load times.

you'd need to set up some automatic backup (as opposed to raid) and i don't know how much space a nwn2 pw takes on disk. otherwise yeah.
